    Meh, its pokemon.
    Also...DBZ should just be straight up disqualified by default. Again, dragon balls. The quick fix to basically any negative issues.

    @Topic, Sendai Yuusha wa Inkyo Shitai has a good one.
    Its been quite a while since I read this part, but IIRC it goes something like this. This happens before the start of the story, when the MC was first summoned as a hero. The princess/saintess that summoned the MC as the hero the first time, knew that the hero's fate would be to fight the demon lord to the death but throughout the journey she fell in love with the MC. She ultimately decided to seal herself and the demon lord together forever.

    A second movie came out several months ago. On a side note, I think there's a third one coming out in the future.

    there is issue of code geass s3 where lelouch is alive (whether he is resurected or actually not dead). So i won't count that season

    Malazan, there are two that stand out. Itkovian, one of my all-time favorite characters, and the person I consider closest to my definition of a hero. And Beak, such a sad story there.

    In Gemmell's Legend, Druss is a big example of this.

    The Fionavar Tapestry has 2 major examples within the trilogy. In fact, many of Guy Gavriel Kay's work have this trope. River of Stars in particular has an example of a heroic sacrifice that doesn't involve actual battle.

    City of Blades examines the sacrifice and service that is the core of soldiery.

    Mistborn has several examples of this as well.

    No a new one came out recently.... Just because will Smith wasn't in this one does not change the fact that it came out.
