Adventurers Guild Adventurer's Guild - Tavern

"Gladly." he replied. He agreed to follow Ryul to his seat, and stood.

Crowen doesn't know why the word rolls out suddenly out of his tongue. It was a relief. But he neither can control his mind, nor body. It was warm and fuzzy inside his 'inside'.

It was something he can't really explain.

He was really glad, and grateful.

 

Ryul smiled again at the young man's answer and led the both of them back to his table.

Pierre had already refilled his mug of honey mead as thanks for his actions before they arrived. Ryul gestured to an empty seat for Crowen.

"So Crowen, please tell me about yourself," the half-elf asked, hoping to get to know the man better.

 

And that is the turning page for his life as adventurer, the first person who wanted to know him. Maybe it is out of kindness or consideration, but he paid no matter to it.

Crowen begins his story.

"I was a gatherer. I hunt small animals, games. I pick everything that may turn into coins. I also run errands. People said I should be adventurers as I may have steady food if not ample income. I--I-- don't know what to say but, I am what I am. I don't have raw strength, or intelligence... or any.... quirks. Haha...."


He wished that if he could die on that very moment.

It was awkward.

 

Ryul thought the black-haired man lacked a bit of self-confidence, and he hoped that would change with time. The scholar smiled through the awkwardness and continued the conversation.

"Ah, so you're a bit of a woodsman, huh? And don't say that. You surely must have something you're good at. You might've just not found that something yet," the half-elf tried to reassure him.

He personally shared, "For myself, I used to serve a noble. Nowadays, however, I'm trying to become a scholar and learn as much as possible. The adventurer thing is sort of just a necessity in order to make ends meet."

Ryul gave a wry smile after that last bit.

 

"I hope you're right. Hopefully, my experiences as a woodman could be useful."

And once again, hope kindled inside him.

 

"I would definitely say so. My good friend Arawn is sort of a hunter/scout type as well. He's much better at both the bow and navigating the woods than I am haha," Ryul laughed as he briefly wondered what his friend was up to.

Focusing back on Crowen, the half-elf said, "Well, adventurer work can be quite dangerous, so always remember to be careful. I have gotten injured more times than I can count; that's just my luck." Ryul shook his head at his misfortune.

 

A wild Arawn appears! Hearing his name being spoken, he looks around.
"Ah, it's Ryul! Plus someone new!" he exclaims.

 

Ryul was flabbergasted as he quietly muttered, "Speak of the devil, and he doth appear."

He then beckoned his friend over, "Arawn! What a coincidence! Come, join us."

"This is Crowen, and we've just met," Ryul introduced his new friend.

 

Arawn joins the pair and gets them.
"Hello, Crowen. I'm Arawn," he introduces himself. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

 

As Deanna stands outside the tavern, she hesitates for a second before steeping foot into the tavern. She walks over to an empty table and sits down.

 

Ryul sees a new face at a neighboring table. He wonders if she is also lonely and decides to raise a hand at her, "Hello, my name is Ryul. It's a pleasure to meet you."

He then asks with a friendly smile, "Would you like to join us? The more the merrier, they say."

 

Arawn pauses and sniffs at the air. His "new person" senses are tingling. Looking around at the tavern, he quickly spots the newcomer sitting at a table on her own. Alright, greeting time! He bounds over to the elf energetically.

"Hello, I'm Arawn!" he smiles, happy to meet a new person.

 

Deanna looks at Arawn and Ryul. She shakes Ryul’s hand and looks at both Arawn and Ryul saying, “Hello, I’m Deanna. Pleasure to you both.”

 

"So... Deanna, if you don't mind me asking, what brought you to the Guild?" Arawn asks hesitantly, fearful that his question may be too personal.

 

*lays her back in a corner of the room and starts playing a short song*

 

Ryul gestures for Deanna to yet another empty chair at his table. Good thing he grabbed a big one that morning.

"Would you like anything to drink?" Ryul asks.

Ryul wonders why Arawn would start out asking the big questions. He shakes his head.

 

Deanna thinks for a second, “Hmm, well i was in need of a job so I heard the guild pays a lot. And I headed here.”
She looks at Arawn and hesitated before asking, “What about you?”

 

Deanna looks toward Arawn, whom wasn’t offered a seat. And looks back at Ryul.

 

Arawn cringes at this, embarrassed of his reasons.

"Ah... well... I left my home to try and join a good educational institute. And... I may have not told my family I was leaving," he laughs sheepishly. "It didn't quite work out, so I needed to find another job. I was low on money, and there weren't any many job openings for hunters or failed scholars."

 

Deanna looks slightly apologetically at Arawn. “Sorry if that was too personal.”
