Anymore spoilers pls? How was ML's relationship with his fiancée Claudia? Did Claudia do anything to FL? How does ML's family treat/think of the FL + her relationship with ML?

 

It never mention again about his relationship with his ex-fiancèe, so it can be conclude as they were just being an aquictance. Since she gave up on him when she heard about his death's, and now she was a married woman. And Claudia didn't take revenge or did such sort of things to Leyla again.

His family kinda knew all along that he liked Leyla and obsessed with her. They accepted her as part of the family and treated her kindly.

 

Matthias sounds like that one shady child who won't throw a tantrum when another child snatches his toy or plays with it anyway much to the owner's dislike, but will get back to that child whenever he have the upperhand sooner or later.

 

Yea im always so put off when authors romanticize toxic relationships bc it was “true love” and dumps the actually good 2ML when he was clearly perfect for the protagonist. No wonder my favorite novels are when the FL ditches their toxic relationship for the person who treated them better. The sort of novels need a disclaimer to not actually use them a romantic reference to portray on one’s actual love life, bc one day a innocent girl who reads these sort of toxic novels is going to get into a terrible relationship and thinks its okay bc of the power of love.

 

absouletly right. I remember the times when i was a 14 years old edgy girl. I was stupid and naive so when i read wattpad novels i thought yeah true love must be like this. Your bf can treat you like shit bc he loves you and you should tolarate him and he is like this bc he has some shity sad backstory and bla bla bla. Fortunaly i didnt just read wattpad i read classics too and i finally found the right way.

but what about others? I mean if i didnt like to read too much i could easily get into a toxic relationship and its really dangerous. This type of men can hurt you, rape you, imprison you and even kill you. But you cant just teach stupid naive girls the right way. I often got into arguments bc i dont defend the abusive ml. There was even a girl who wanted the ml to be the one who killed fl's father and mother (and they were really good people and didnt do anything. they just didnt wanted their 5 years old daughter to marry an +300 years old tyrant dragon king who killed countless innocent people and can kill ore.)

and when i said its stupid and she should get help she just said 'whats wrong with it? he is a dragon so humans are like ants to him and she sould forgive him bc he is hot and has a sad backstory and they should fuck bla bla bla' it was terryfing. Young people this days are really weird. (i am not that old but not too young. i mean i am going to finish collage in two years. and i am sure they are like just 15-16)

He was born to succeed the duke line, as everything in his world was in perfect order as he was admired and respected by the people, even his mother knew that ML became the duke because he decided to, not because he was obliged to. When he met MC though, for the first time in his life, he didn't understand his actions or made sense out of it. His indifferent and cold attitude to those that knew him became sadistic towards MC. He started to bully her when they first met for some reason, then he gradually desired her, made her his mistress, acted like a beast in bed and really really really liked making her cry. He was engaged to Claudine but that was because he viewed marriage like a business proposal, it was only a means to strengthen his family name, he never correlated the concept of marriage with feelings. He planned to put MC in one of his places after his marriage, where he could give her everything she wanted. He sometimes had ideas to make MC the duchess, but it was impossible given how she was a commoner and orphan. When MC ran away, he was still desperate for her but he didn't regret anything he did to her, because he knew it was the only way to have her. Even when he found her again, pregnant with his child; he locked her up and threatened MC that she would take his child if she ran away again, so MC was really bound to him. There was a scene while she was pregnant and sleeping, and the ML whispered "I love you" because he knew he couldn't say it while she was awake because he wanted for her to like him. Actually, he knew from the beginning that MC made him weak, that these were the type of feelings he had for her, but he didn't want to acknowledge it or know any other way to show his feelings. He remembered how his first plan was to kill MC after finding her, but he knew he couldn't do it so he had planned to kill himself instead if he couldn't have her. But seeing her pregnant gave him hope. He tried to let her go after a scene where MC got sick and was almost dying, and there was a bit of character development there. It was still a happy ending, they married and anyone who saw them knew how much the duke was in love and crazy about his wife. Overall, the ML really has no sob back story to justify his craziness or why he acted like trash, he was just crazy from the beginning but i guess that side of him only really awakened when he met MC

i loved reading this and got emotional tbh because i'm a sucker for angsty stories that make me question the ML's feelings , i also like yandere stories and the idea of someone being totally devoted to you. overall, that is not what i would tolerate in real life, this is just a story and these kinds of genres will just stick to my fantasies, it'd be a waste to even compare them to moral standards and real life love because that will never be my intention when reading these

Kyle Ettman deserved better. Just finished it, omg, felt so bad for poor boy. Leila should've run away with him when he proposed it. It's okay to be little bit greedy for ourselves. Too much goodness sometimes can destroy a person. I still don't like the Duke no matter how good he was to Leila after all that drama.

About the second child, Matthias didn't care about how many children he would have but he did thought the Felix will be the only child he will be a father to upto Leila's expectations. But Leila told him that she wanted to have another child and live the days that she should've lived when she was with Felix, so yeah, he did comply, even if she wouldn't have said that he would've compiled to her wishes (after all the mess he did to have her). Funny thing is he thought that it's better that the children do not remember Leila so that their would be only one woman who will look like Leila and that is herself (the level of possessiveness I swear, he himself accepted this fact that she would be shocked if she knew what was going inside his head -. Take therapy man). They had a daughter who was called as 'Blonde Matthias' cause except her hair colour every other thing was as same as Matthias. Elyse, Matthias mother joked with Leila to give up the wish to have a child like her cause they (Herhardt family) possess a strong bloodline. And Leila accepted that fact cause all the previous Herdhard heirs were all alike.


If Uncle Bill hadn't took Leila and run away from Arvis, Matthias would've really married Claudine and would've proceeded to play with Leila's life. Cause that is how he was. It took her absence and loss for him to realise that his actions were rough. In his monologue he still accepted the fact that if he was about to go into the past, he still would've made the same choices in order to have her.

P.S - I felt sad for Riet too, he didn't deserved to die though. He and Claudine would've also have their happy ending ever after. Claudine was a haughty and proud girl, but I didn't hated her, she annoyed me and her treatment, behaviour and misplaced anger towards Leila did angered and disgusted me, but I certainly didn't hated her, she was anything but a villainess.

Yeah, he really wanted to just monopolize her, the only thorn that had held him back before coveting Leila was his position and the duties that were towards his position. But when he heard of Leila apparently to get married by his grandmother, he schemed against her Uncle Bill and one of her greatest weakness to just make her directly his woman even if it was shameful for her which he knew it was. No doubt about the fact that he was crazily and obsessively in love with her. But his love was really selfish. In the war zone, if Leila's condition wasn't that deathly he may still wouldn't have let her go or even had that idea to do so, but for sure, if she would've left even after hearing about how much he got off his bonkers in her absence and also that he didn't married Claudine and rejected the marriage, he surely would've willingly died in the war.

And Leila, she only wanted him to treat her with a more respected position, she wasn't greedy for the position of the Duchess but she didn't even wanted to live like 'an another woman'. She did loved him, but never raised any thoughts towards him cause he was about to get married, her love wasn't above her dignity. The stigma of being a mistress broke her down, ofcourse, it was shameful and humiliating. Same goes for the way he acted towards her.
Before leaving Arvis, when she said ‘Please, Love me’ that confessions was sincere.

The only thing Matthias should've done in the beginning was just to propose her and make her his wife. But even so, I don't like him, Kyle is still far better.

About Claudine, She was about to get married a rich and powerful dude her family arranged her marriage with and he lived somewhere else, away from Arvis. There was nothing mentioned about they remained acquaintance or not, but because her fiancé was from from a foreign place and she too was going there for the wedding, so in conclusion they wouldn't have no reason to be in touch and also they won't come face to face. Before leaving for her destination, she visited Diet's grave who died in war and who loved her and also proposed marriage to her after her marriage with Matthias was cancelled. She was quite excited about her marriage and it being no longer a business proposal like but that of love, but he didn't lived and she didn't saw that day. She put a bouquet on his grave and said Hi, my love and also asked him that why did he loved her so much!. That scene was very emotional.

About Leila,
They didn't accepted her immediately, they were hesitant but Matthias as I've mentioned in spoilers above have them an ultimatum. So yeah they didn't have any choice. In term of behaviour, they were neutral towards her, but over the time they accepted her as she was. They knew that she won't be able to play the role of being a Duchess from Herhardt family very well but they also knew that she was not a cunning but a very kind woman, above all, Matthias's beloved wife and mother of their lovely grandson who was mini version of Matthias.

• Their first meeting was when she was 12 and he was 18. Leila came from the neighboring country Lovitia and had just been in Arbis (the duke's estate) for a while as an orphan whom uncle Bill decided to adopt. While Matthias, the duke; had returned to his estate for the summer. Leila was on a tree branch when she saw him pointing his rifle at her. He likes to shoot on his hunting grounds, and he looked shocked for a moment, as he almost shot her because he thought she was a bird. After that, Leila was scared of him and always hid herself whenever she saw the duke.
• Claudine (Matthias fiancée), invited Leila to eat and despite being only a few years older than Leila, called her a child. She gave Leila a gold coin after inviting her out. Leila had to take it despite the humiliation she felt and ran, she suddenly dropped it and it landed in front of Matthias. He stepped on it and Leila had to wait before he removed his feet from the coin because it didn't seem like he had any intention of doing so.
• When they meet again, he no longer saw a little girl but a woman. 18 year-old Leila was riding a bike in her school uniform and passed by him, the blonde hair caught his eye and he stopped to stare while Leila turned her back because she noticed him too so she fell off her bike and rolled down. Duke approached her and casually picked up her pen. He just kept staring at her, noticing her features and the outline of her body in her school uniform and then he said her full name. Leila had to give a proper greeting but there was only silence each time. He just left and Leila decided to just walk very far behind him. He glanced at her once and she wondered why his longs were slow to walk.
• Matthias and Claudine were at the greenhouse for a stroll. Matthias saw a canary with the bird keeper, and he decided to keep it. It's golden wings made him recall Leila's. Claudine thought that was unexpected.
• He was escorting Claudine and he looked at her hands which made him recall Leila's dusty hands with scratches when she fell off the bike. Another scene after showed how he liked to swim in his estate's lake, completely BUTT NAKED mind you, when he suddenly saw Leila under a tree which was near the river, reading a newspaper.
• Their eyes met but Leila didn't have good vision so it gradually took her some time to realize it was the duke, naked, and he was swimming towards her. Leila screamed, panicked, and ran, leaving her things behind. She wondered what kind of person was insane enough to swim naked in broad daylight (rather than thinking like that, if she were me i'd prolly simp Matthia) . She returned during the night to retrieve her things, but ran into Claudine and him.
• Claudine invited her to join them for tea in a hotel, she had to accept because she was in no position to decline. When they got there though, she was uncomfortable and they weren't really paying attention to her so she excused herself after that, saying she had an appointment with a friend. Later when Matthias was on the way home inside the car, he saw Leila laughing with Kyle (the 2nd ML, the childhood friend, the selfless man, the one deserving of love, the one Leila only loved like a brother despite every sacrifice he did, the bestboi anyway you get the picture) and he suddenly got himself thinking that Leila left him at the hotel just to meet up with a man. (yahhh how dare she)
• Claudine was eating with her mom and her mom warned her to make sure to proceed thoroughly with the engagement, especially since there was a beautiful girl like Leila near him who could be his *mistress. The reason Claudine invited Leila for dinner with her and the duke was because she was surprised of how beautiful Leila became. She wanted to see the duke's reaction, who always remained indifferent. She was relieved to notice how the duke seemed uninterested with Leila. *( It wasn't uncommon and actually acceptable in high society to have one. Even commoners and maids could be made a mistress and have lots of favors to the noble. So long as the bastard children were kept in check and they knew their place, the wives of the nobles wouldn't mind it. Even Matthias' grandfather and father had one before and kept them in their other estates.)
• Leila was helping out in the garden since uncle Bill was the estate's gardener. He was out on an errand and Leila was at Kyle's place eating. The duke went to meet Kyle's father since he was their doctor. He saw Leila and told her to bring in roses to the outbuilding. The outbuilding wasn't attached to the estate's mansion. It was located in the forest, near the lake he swam to. When Leila returned with colorful roses, the duke told Leila he didn't like bold colors so he told her to do it again. Every time she returned, he told her to do it again and gain (Matthy calm down lol). In Leila's final return, he suddenly told Leila to put the roses in a in a vase. Leila said she didn't know how to arrange flowers so the duke was like then should I do it? and when it was done, he told her it looked terrible in such a normal tone. He told her to eat the sandwich at the table despite her refusal, and he kept insisting so she gave in. He noticed how uncomfortable Leila was unlike whenever he saw her with Kyle, whom she smiled at.
• Leila couldn't finish her sandwich and wanted to leave. He then took the hat she was wearing, saying it was not lady like to wear it while inside. It was a hat attached to her chin so he touched it while untying the ribbon. Leila asked for the hat back but he replied that she should finish the sandwich first, then he will give the hat, and only then will she leave. Leila still wanted to leave, so he threw the hat to the window and it landed on the lake. She was shocked and hurt and mad and ran to retrieve it, while telling herself not to cry. The hat floated towards the middle of the lake, so she had no choice but to get it despite being afraid and not knowing how to swim. The duke was watching through the window and predicted she would drown at when she got farther to a particular spot. She did, so he went to save her. They were sitting on the wooden bridge and Leila was so mad and the duke said this wouldn't have happened if she just ate. Leila told him he should be a gentleman and he just laughed. He told her he still saved her so Leila still thanked him despite it being his fault.
• When she was back in her hut with uncle Bill (their hut was also located in the forest inside the estate), she realized she forgot her glasses. The glasses were in the hands of the duke and he looked at it while saying Leila's name.
• Later on, Leila asked the duke if he had seen her glasses. He didn't deny it and said that he hid it . Later that day, Matthias' engagement with Claudine was officially announced, although everyone else had expected this union since their childhood. After he told Leila he hid it, he went that to the outbuilding, he looked at Leila's glasses thinking it was the perfect trap to catch a prey, because around nighttime, Leila sneaked inside through the window to search for the glasses and she was surprised that the duke appeared.
• He was putting her glasses in the window where he threw the hat, threatening to throw it as well so she begged him to stop. She told the duke that he was a gentleman, so he wouldn't do such a thing. She kept complimenting him about him being the best gentleman and kept saying please. She was approaching him until they were only a breath apart. Everything became tense, as the duke suddenly touched and stroked her lips with his finger, with one finger slowly going inside the wet part of her mouth. He abruptly stopped and told her to go as the glasses was put on Leila, and she ran. Matthias couldn't understand his actions, but he finally admitted to himself that he desired Leila. What man wouldn't desire a beautiful woman. He rationalized that such desires were temporary, but was asking himself if he was willing to stain his reputation for her. After that, Leila did her best to avoid and hide from him for days.
• Whenever the duke was in the hunting grounds, Leila was always the one burying the birds he shot. He seemed to like shooting prey, but he never retrieved them. While she was burying the birds, she saw the duke watching her. He asked why she was doing that and asked as well why there was a red thread attached to one of the birds. Leila said they were migratory birds, and this was her way of knowing if they will return here again... but now they were dead, she said birds have hearts. So he asked if it was his fault that he was hunting in his own estate. Leila said the birds didn't know that this place was his property, and duke stated “Leila Lewellin, who knows the heart of birds well.”. When she finished burying the birds and started to leave after saying goodbye to the duke, she heard another shot. A bird came falling down while the duke simply said "What do I do Leila, I don't think your job is over yet."
• Leila asked him what did she ever did wrong for him to treat her like this, and Matthias said he was just doing his job. He turned to leave and when he turned around to look at her, he saw Leila shedding tears for the bird. He liked it.
• Claudine invited Leila to her engagement party. Uncle Bill paid one of his coworkers so Leila could be bought a dress to wear for it, but Matthias found out and bought one. He told his attendant to deliver it to the hut, and had made them discard the one Uncle Bill bought. Leila and uncle Bill thought what they got was the one uncle Bill paid for, and Leila was surprised and felt guilty towards uncle Bill because the dress came with an accessory so it must be expensive. Matthias had his attendant buy a dress, but he was the one who bought the necklace when he suddenly saw it while passing the windows of dress shops in his car. It had gemstones, but the middle stone, he thought, resembled Leila's eyes. Kyle was Leila's escort and they went to greet Claudine who was with Matthias. After that, Leila was at a balcony because Kyle was called for something. She was at the side of the railings when Claudine and Matthias arrived. Claudine asked him for a kiss although she knew someone was there. It was a platonic kiss, but Matthias was making eye contact with Leila the whole time.
• Leila was waiting for Kyle, with her shoes taken off and sitting leisurely in one off the railings. Matthias told her Kyle wouldn't come back. He approached her and took her shoes. Leila asked him why he hated her, why he liked making her cry and why she's the only one being treated by him like this. Matthias' believed his world was perfect, he had control of everything while Leila was someone powerless and with no name. He then replied "Because Leila is a nobody, you are nothing."

Matthias really reminds me of the boy who used to bully you in elementary because he had a crush on you, albeit he's the darker version that doesn't mature from his feelings and becomes borderline abusive. This is just the start, and you can see how it'll pretty much get darker haha.

• !FIRST KISS! Nighttime came and the duke had some things on his mind, until he realized his feet landed in the forest. He didn't decide to think about it and continued towards the hut's direction. Uncle Bill was out of town, and Leila was climbing the ladder to place a bird on their nest. The ladder fell and the branch was breaking. She was screaming for Kyle and uncle Bill's name. Matthias appeared in front of her and told her that if she called for him, he'd catch her. Leila had no choice but to ask for his help and he caught her when she jumped. They fell to the grass, and Leila was on top of him. She was trying to escape his hold on her but couldn't, so she bit his ear. Matthias's hold was released but the tables were turned and he pushed Leila back to the grass, with him on top. He also bit her ear. Matthias said she should act lady-like as a payment for what he did. She replied back that he wasn't even a gentleman but he reminded Leila that she was the one who said that he was the most gentleman of all the gentleman in the world. Leila then said that was only because he tried to throw her glasses. They were so close when he suddenly kissed her. Leila was trying to resist and push him away but his tongue pushed into hers and he was forceful. Under the moonlight, he kept on kissing her, leaving red marks on her neck and touching her breast. Leila didn't know what was going on and what this feeling and sensations were, and he suddenly stopped and left. Later, he was contemplating what he did because the moment he had Leila in his arms, all rational thoughts of his went out the door. As for Leila, she repeatedly washed her mouth LOL.
• Kyle asked for his father's permission and had been proposing to Leila no matter how many times he got rejected. Kyle's father sooner or later accepted that his son was really in love with the orphan and wouldn't change his mind. But Leila only loved him like a brother, a best friend, a family. Kyle was fine with that, as he just wanted to make Leila happy and give her the family she wanted and erase her lonely childhood. Leila finally accepted, and she said she wanted around five kids, Kyle blushed and said he'd try hard hahaha.
• During that season, Matthias was staying in Ratz, the capital city. He had planned another year as a high ranking officer in the military so the marriage was going to be postponed, everyone agreed since Claudine was still young. The duke heard from his mother and grandmother who visited him how Kyle planned to get married to Leila and that they would go to college together. That night, he wondered what the seasons in Arvis will be without her. He thought that was good, as she'd now disappear in his perfect world. But he crushed the roses gathered in the vase and scattered them. For the first time in his life, he wanted to kill someone. He just didn't know if it was Kyle, or Leila. He suddenly went to to his papers and decided he would cancel his extension in the military.
• While still in Ratz, his car was passing by when he spotted Leila. He couldn't believe it but was sure that blonde woman was her. He left his driver and followed the woman heading to the National History Museum. Her exams were finished, but Kyle was scheduled for tomorrow so Leila was by herself. The museum was too big to finish in one day, and everything about it amazed Leila. Matthias was at a distance from her and was amused at her reactions she viewed the birds. In another section, Leila was amazed at the bird ornament. She wanted to take a closer look but couldn't really observe it as it was too high, when someone suddenly lifted her waist. She turned around and spotted him, and she was still amazed by the ornaments. He told her to get coffee with him and when they were in the museum's café, Leila said he wasn't her maid. She asked if he hated her and he agreed that he hated her very much. Leila replied that she should just go away. Matthias was handing her some coins saying he would pay for her because she wasn't his maid, but still accompanied him. Leila said she didn't need it but he insisted as it was his pity for the poor orphan. Leila was always telling herself not to cry anymore because of him.
• Last summer, the duke left the estate and when he came back, he knew it would be Leila's last time here because she was going to get married and go to college.
• Claudine celebrated Leila getting accepted into the academy. Leila was talking with her and Claudine's mother, when the duke appeared and sat beside Claudine. He was now in front of Leila, and she felt guilty and uncomfortable how when Claudine wasn't looking at them and talking with her mother, the duke would keep on staring at her, making Leila think they would get caught.
• Matthias thoughts were all jumbled. " I desire you." "I know my feelings therefore I want you to disappear."
• Short context: Since Leila was supposed to marry Kyle go to college together, uncle Bill was going to pay for her tuition because he was actually saving up for Leila . Unfortunately, the money got stolen in the middle of the night. The duke happened to be in the lake near their hut when the thief was escaping and even introduced himself to Matthias so he wouldn't seem suspicious. It turns out the thief is Kyle's uncle (his mother's cousin) and later on, Kyle's mom admitted to Leila while in a café that she stole the money because she doesn't accept Leila. Kyle's mom said she'll return the money to her but she should know she did this to confess to Leila because it was her intention to make Leila feel guilty on ruining the relationship between mother and son. The duke had already figured out that the goal wasn't the money all along since he had investigated the man who approached. But he didn't tell any of this when the police asked him if he noticed somethin, because he wanted to see what the true intention was as well as talk to Kyle's mom himself. So while Leila was in the café with Kyle's mom, someone was listening to their conversation. Leila told Kyle's mom she wouldn't tell Kyle about any of this because she didn't want Kyle to feel hurt, but the news of what Kyle's mom did still spread because of the duke who meticulously planted the rumors. But even when the truth came out, Leila didn't want to go to college for now because both she and Kyle were hurt from this- so she ended the engagement. Kyle begged until he unwillingly left on his own. Duke was now happy happy happy here , because there were no more obstacles in the way for his desire for Leila. He thought everything was in it's place.
• After the incident, Matthias spotted Leila crying by the tree near the lake he was swimming in. When he approached her, he said Kyle wasn't coming back. Leila ignored him and said goodbye. He was still calling her when she suddenly fell to the ground so the duke went to her, telling her not to cry. He liked seeing Leila cry. But he was uncomfortable and mad, because she was crying for Kyle. He wanted to strangle her if she kept crying for that man. She told that didn't he like seeing her cry and that he is a duke, but he keeps on doing these ridiculous things, even though he has has a fiancé and she hates it. The duke says replies that it has nothing to do with her.
• Leila became a teacher at a local primary school. Leila found out from uncle Bill that the local school's were actually funded by the duke's family. While in the car heading outside of the estate, the duke suddenly spotted her in the grounds park with the children, uncle Bill and some another teacher. He was reminded that they sometimes allowed the students to view their estate and he asked his assistant for his schedule. He concluded it would end quickly and when he returned home, he ordered the car to head towards them. He tagged along despite how flustered the teacher became, and Leila tried to avoid him and thought this wasn't even in his line of duty. Leila greeted him while emphasizing they were taking the children out, and tried to act mature. The duke found that funny as Leila discovered one of her student's placed a flower wreath in her head. Matthias offered them snacks in the garden as well as boat rides on the lake. Uncle Bill explained to the duke Leila was was afraid of water so she wouldn't join. He recalled the incident of how she went to retrieve her hat. Leila soon realized her choice was a mistake because Matthias didn't ride the boat so she tried to run towards the moving boat, but couldn't. Then Matthias told her to sit down. They were talking and she said he really wasn't a gentleman and if he was, then she would be a queen. Matthias was really laughing and his attendant, Mark Evers, who was always with the duke, only gave formal smiles and laughter.
• While the children were at the boat, Phoebe, Leila and Kyle's messenger bird; appeared. on the other side of the lake. Leila begged the duke not to shoot it and said he was the perfect gentleman and all (yeah, he's totally convinced Leila ). She made him promise, and he actually noticed that bird one time in the hut's window. He decided to indulge her and nodded his head.
• A scene shows revealing that whenever Phoebe arrives, it also drops by the duke's window because he's managed to tame the bird by constantly feeding it since Kyle was no longer at home. So now, Leila was wondering why the bird got fat (he's so crazy i'm wheezing). They ran into each under a sycamore tree when Leila was on a bike heading home from her job, and the duke stepped out of his car and told her to walk with her. He said he didn't like her hairstyle and she said it was required to make her appear older at school. She said she would cut it soon and he said she won't, but Leila said she doesn't need his permission. she's not his maid; and he said she never was. He said her hair was pretty, like golden wings. They were nearing the estate so Leila wanted him to go first, but the duke said she should. Her things scattered and she didn't notice her pen dropped too. He picked it up, and saw her name was engraved on it and figured out that uncle Bill gave it to her. Even thought Leila was still within his reach, he decided not to say anything. That night, he dropped a message using Phoebe. When Leila saw the note on Phoebe, she was shocked to see it contained "Where's your pen Leila?".

One of matthias crazy act was when he knew leila would attend one of the party and uncle bill gave some money to one of the maid for her to bought leila dress, matthias ordered to threw the original dress and changed it into the one that he bought including an emerald necklace that until the end of the story, leila always wore it and didn't know that it's from matthias not uncle bill . The dress and the necklace are the one that she wears in the cover.

• Their next meeting was when he saw her hanging the laundry at her hut. When Leila noticed him approaching, she ran away. He chased after her and got her quickly by grabbing her hair as he did a kabedon to her against tree trunk. "Where are you going Leila?"
• He said he was wondering if there was something wrong with the messenger bird because he still didn't get a reply. Leila told him he promised he wouldn't do anything to Phoebe. She also asked for her pen back, but he said he discarded it already. Leila asked if he was a crow and the duke was like a what? Because crows often liked to steal things too. There was some kind of sexual tension as he was still grabbing her hair, but he let her go. Later while Leila was at school, she received a package that contained an expensive pen with her name engraved on it, even without the sender's name she knew who it was from.
• Leila returned the pen back through mail, and when the duke received it along with a letter with Leila saying it was her fault since she failed to notice her missing pen so he didn't have to do this. Matthias experienced all kinds of emotions and what do you know, he visited Leila's school.
• He was talking to the faculty and was offering something and then he asked them if he could get a tour. The principal said Leila would do it. While she was touring him, they were in a classroom and he closed the door. He saw inks on the table, and he took the red ink and deliberately dropped it all over Leila's clothes. She was mad of course. The faculty was surprised as the duke explained it was his fault for failing to catch the ink she was giving. The duke insisted on Leila in front of everyone that she rides his car. She denied but he said she didn't want to shock the passersby that would think it was blood, and everyone laughed with the duke. (i can't even sdjddjkfkll). She was in no position to refuse again as they were in front of the faculty.
• Rather than heading home, he took Leila out to eat at a hotel and bought her a new pair of clothes. He was satisfied with the dress she was wearing thinking " It was better than before, wearing something like a nun’s uniform of the last century:" (this burn could literally be used by fashion critiques. HAHAHA)
• Riel, the duke's cousin; saw him watching Leila riding her bike while they were inside the car. He wondered if this woman was his first love or something.
• Matthias and friends were at hunting grounds again, and Leila found out Phoebe was there. She ran towards the grounds when she heard a gunshot. She saw the rifle that was pointed in Phoebe's direction, and the perpetrator of the shot was the duke. She thought he broke his promise. But she soon realized he only shot near Phoebe to alert the bird to fly away before it could be hunted by the people he was with. Riel who was also at the hunting grounds, wondered why she was there.
• That night, someone was tapping on the window. She thought it was Phoebe but it was the duke. He said Phoebe was in the other window and Leila thanked him for keeping his promise, she was backing away from the window as he grabbed her chin and kissed her. The kiss this time was gentler and slower than their first one. Leila could feel every stroke of his tongue, and the more she pushed him away, the deeper their kiss became. Their kiss only broke when uncle Bill called out to Leila asking her to get water. She didn't want to get caught and panicked while Matthias took out a handkerchief to wipe both of their wet lips. His left his handkerchief there.
• Claudine and Riel were talking and Claudine was already suspicious about Leila. Riel was thinking that Leila was pretty, but not a beauty. There were many other beautiful noblewomen around Matthias so he didn't understand what he saw in Leila.
• Riel approached Leila when he saw her near the road of the estate's entrance. Leila had planned to just give back the handkerchief, so she was waiting for him. Riel was asking if she was meeting the duke today but Leila didn't want to talk to him, so he was kind of took her bike and she was chasing after him. He decided to stop and give back the bike, but he turned around to see Leila bumped into a car. Claudine and Matthias were inside the car and went out, Leila said she was fine and went away. Claudine was looking at Riel. The three nobles were talking back in the estate, she was observing Matthias and it seems he wasn't mad at the man who harmed his woman. He had a calm poker face. Even Riel was sus about it. When it was just the two cousin's back in the office, Riel felt something was right but Matthias wasn't even doing anything to him. He recalled how he had the nickname of gentleman demon in the military.
• Leila was in pain at her bed when a letter from Phoebe arrives. Matthias was asking for his handkerchief back and if she didn't return it, he would go himself. Leila went to the outbuilding and gives back the handkerchief. She then tries to run away but the duke catches her and she says it hurts and he places her in a room. He was there to check and treat her injuries and he said he wouldn't do anything to her and he also asked if Riel touched her. She kept refusing so he asked if he should get the doctor aka Kyle's dad. Leila had no choice so she chose the duke. She had to remove her top because the bruise was in her shoulder up to her waist. There was a mirror there, and both of them met their eyes in the mirror, and for the first time it was the duke who looked away first. He liked seeing her cry, but not like this. He didn't like to see her cry if he wasn't the cause. He recalled how he wanted to strangle her rather than see her cry for Kyle. It was a strange feeling for him. He gave kisses to Leila's shoulders and gave her some painkillers as well as candy.
• The duke actually wanted that joy he felt when he kissed Leila. Where she a bit more complacent unlike their first time and seems to accept him.
• Some time passed and it was peaceful because the duke hasn't been approaching Leila, and that was because he didn't know what this feeling was. But he did stalk-I mean observe, from afar.
• There was a charity event that was going to present theatre plays from the local schools. Nobles were there so of course, the duke along with his grandmother were invited. His grandmother said he seemed lively these days. Leila was also there because her students were also going to participate in the play. The other teacher was admiring the duke and said Leila was so lucky to see him in the estate. Leila thought how she was the only one who saw his cruel side, everyone else seemed to think he was the perfect duke, he acted perfectly. The duke saw Leila wearing the necklace he bought (the one from before) and he was satisfied because it meant she was his, her not knowing about it won't change that fact. Leila's students were performing, some of the kids forgot their lines so the principal nodded at Leila. Leila, very much embarrassed; had no choice but to go on stage and guide the kids by acting and stating their lines with them. Her clumsy acting made the audience enjoy it more. As for the duke, well, he smiled and laughed and applauded happily at the end; never taking his eyes off her.
• While the event was still ongoing, Leila was tired and wanted to be alone so she could rest. She went outside the building and sat on a bench and even took off her shoes. Matthias appeared and Leila asked how he found her and he was like duh I always know where to find you girl. But he figured Leila after what transpired, would be at a place where there was no crowd, where she could sit with her shoes taken off and much better if there was a tree. He easily found her and approached and Leila gets her shoes. She said he would take it again and he said did she really think that could stop him so Leila just wears them. Matthias suddenly asks if she likes the necklace and she said yes, which made him pleased. He grabs her hand when she walks away, and holds both of her cheeks. He keeps thinking how he wants to leave marks all over her body and make her his. There was really some sexual tension here, but the duke stopped again. It was now snowing. While Riel's scene shows how he notices that Matthias was never kept his eyes off of Leila during the performance.
• After the event, it was snowing and Leila was invited to go home by joining the carriage of the duke and his grandmother. While his grandmother kept asking Leila about herself and complimenting her, Matthias kept bumping and placing his foot beside hers. It really distracted Leila from properly replying to his grandmother, while he just maintained a poker face the entire time. When Leila got off the carriage, his grandmother casually mentions the principal telling her that Leila requested to move to another school in another town as well as how the principal was matchmaking Leila.

• There was a fire accident in the estate's garden because of the new generator. Uncle Bill was was at fault because he wasn't familiar with new technology. He gets arrested and Leila's only hope is for the duke to pardon him. That night, the duke knew Leila would come because they made eye contact when uncle Bill was getting taken by the police. Leila did, and she asked him to forgive uncle Bill. Of course, the duke doesn't listen to her request because he said why would he, he would have more losses than gains if he'll do that, as even his grandmother was injured and sent to the hospital. Leila keeps shedding tears and doesn't know what to do anymore until Matthias offered a deal. She asked him what the deal was, but when she realized how Matthias was staring at her, she kept saying she couldn't do that. He gave her some time to think about it.
• Leila left trying to find other options, but the uncle Bill's bail among other things was something they couldn't afford. Matthias knew she would come back, and she did. He knew this wasn't the way to feel the joy he wanted from her. But for now, this was the best to prevent her from leaving. She asked one more time if there was any other way, but there obviously wasn't so she finally agreed and sat down on the floor.
• During their first night, not everything was in detail but the duke started by kissing Leila and taking off her clothes. His tongue was forceful, he pulled of her garter and underwear and threw it on the floor as he was between her knees. He admired his pretty creation. Leila just spilled tears, as this night was so painful for her. Matthias got awakened when Leila said something. He was still enjoying the aftertaste of pleasure, and was still buried inside her. Leila said he must keep his promise, so Matthias nodded pretending he couldn't win. Then he slept with her again. The traces of everything that conspired where evident from Leila, who had blood, bruises and marks all over her body. The duke really enjoyed it and was like a beast.
• The next day, uncle Bill was released and kept thanking the duke for what happened, the duke just smiled at uncle Bill while exchanging glances with a tense Leila. Claudine talks to Matthias and tells her how she is wary because she wouldn't want uncle Bill to be here because of the accident. Matthias dismisses her off and so Claudine has a clue that he must have done that because of Leila.
• When night came, the duke was expecting Leila to come again. Leila doesn't bother to cry anymore because she doesn't want to give him that satisfaction. She didn't want to remember what happened before, where everything was so painful. More details of their first night transpire. Matthias couldn't believe he was pathetic that he was impatient enough to do it on the floor the whole time. He is satisfied with the marks he left on her body, like on her butt and thighs. After that, Leila was on the floor, ignoring him and had her back turned on him. When he tried to approach she froze. It was hard to tell who was being trampled on. He went to take a shower, and came back to see Leila wasn't there anymore.
• When Leila came on their second night, she lied in bed and started taking off her clothes immediately. Matthias was asking what she was doing, Leila said she was just doing her job. He got mad. So he went to do exactly what Leila was expecting of him. Doing it with her makes him so excited, and it was a long night again until he leaves the room and Leila leaves as well. The attendant asks him what he should do about the cake he bought for her. He wanted to actually feed Leila and ordered a cake from a famous chef, but seeing Leila act like that made him mad. He told the attendant to just discard it.
• On another night, Leila did the same thing by taking off her clothes while heading straight to bed. Matthias was doing paperwork and was ignoring her. Leila said she was just going to leave and he stopped her and had prepared a meal for both of them. He said she was dry. It also hurt him when it was dry. Leila said she didn't care and then he said if she dies her tombstone would say she was the duke's mistress who died here. He gave her enough wine and made out with her, then he tied her wrists to the bedside as he took a bath. He knew she might leave again. He thought he wanted Leila to join in the bath, but he'll save that for some another time because he thinks she's too innocent. Leila kept saying she hated him, and she said she never once hated someone- not even her mom who abandoned her, or the relatives who abused and passed her around. The duke covered her body with a gown and tied both of her hands as she fell asleep in his embrace. He was doing his paperwork beside Leila, When the duke was finished reading, he noticed the gown slowly falling off of Leila. Her body was getting more exposed to the cold. He didn't do anything about it because it made Leila unconsciously go deeper into his embrace. He liked her body temperature and kept kissing her eyelids and calling her name. He thought this desire might last longer than expected, and it wasn't a bad thing. Matthias thought he could give Leila a good life, send her to college, buy her stuff, have her live in his other estates, unlike Kyle who could give her nothing.
• Kyle returns and still declares his love for Leila, but Leila said things have changed.
• Matthias thought that after his marriage with Claudine, Leila should also no longer be in the estate, he thought he should bring her with him somewhere else. He was frustrated with Leila, because he had so much to give and offer her, if only she accepted it. He knows how stubborn she is and that she would rather bite her tongue than admit she is his woman. He went around the mansion and saw Leila and Claudine having a meal together. Claudine asked Leila to be her maid and lied that her maid was injured. Leila couldn't deny it of course, so she agreed. Claudine actually wanted her to know her place as a mistress but she was still acting good and innocent in front of Leila. She planned to stop Leila from being her maid the day Matthias would return from his trip. But he arrived a day earlier, so he saw what she was doing.
• Leila was standing by a corner, with Claudine and Matthias. Claudine invited Kyle and his dad as in the meal as well. Kyle told Leila she wasn't a maid and asked her to go outside with him.
• Claudine was looking at Mathias and noticed he looked indifferent. She thought maybe he didn't like Leila as he thought. That Leila would be a quiet mistress. She was having tea with the duke's mother and grandmother when he appeared with the doctor. He told Claudine he knew how important her maid was to her, so he had the doctor inspect her injury. It was only a mild one and everyone was mad at the maid for deceiving Claudine. Claudine said she would forgive her maid. She humiliated deep down, but kept her appearance as everyone watching them assumed he was a duke who only cared about the affairs of his fiancé. Claudine didn't need Leila as her maid anymore.
• He already sent Leila a message through Phoebe to come tonight, and he already found her inside the parlor when he entered. Leila was sleeping in the sofa, and didn't even made a fireplace. She awoke while Matthias was trying to set up the fire place because it was cold, and she told him to make it quick because she was sleepy. He slowly took of her clothes. When he took of her gloves, he entangled his hands with hers and they shared their warmth for a while, and then there was a slow kiss. He suddenly stopped and Leila thought that was it, but she realized her she was wet. She knew he knew that. Leila said that this reaction has nothing to do with the mind, that she hated him. Matthias took off his clothes and got on top of her. They did it and Leila couldn't even look away as he was grasping her chin. When tears stained her after, he thought this was the face he wanted to see when he was out of Arvis. The feeling when he saw her with Claudine was unfamiliar, and so he just hugged the sagging body of Leila. It got faster and when Leila made more sounds, he lifted his back more violently. She was so exhausted and couldn't push him away anymore, her legs were placed on his shoulders. They bed was creaking and the duke digs into the deepest part possible. She hugged him without knowing, then he bit her. She found the hot texture coming out of the groin embarrassing. When they were done, he wiped her body clean. He hugged the exhausted Leila and was stroking her body, he even stroked her between her legs. He said they should move to the capital, Leila asked why and he said didn't she want to go to college. He didn't want to see Leila being insulted and treated as a maid. Leila didn't want to, she doesn't want to sell her body for that. He felt insulted and said does she think her body is enough for that when it was like wood. The she retorted why was he doing it. He thought he doesn't even need to send his mistress to college. He said it was just his mercy and grace. Leila tired to get up, but Matthias hugged her. He thought he it was ridiculous to have a mistress that stands up to him, but he took it mildly. He kissed her lips again, but Leila was trying to avoid his face so he went on top of her. Before Leila could sense it, Matthias was already in her. The place he wiped became soiled again. Leila was thinking mercy and grace, so she said that was a lie. Matthias knew it was. Even he didn't know what the truth was.
• Claudine remembered back when Leila's tuition money was stolen. She was by the garden near the lake, when she saw Matthias talking to a suspicious man. When the police were inquiring about it during the investigation, Matthias denied seeing anyone suspicious. Claudine thought why would he lie. If he did, his only reason was because he wanted to ruin Leila and Kyle's engagement. Claudine and Riel were talking about Matthias and Leila, and Riel assured Claudine that no matter how much crazy the duke was with Leila, it's impossible for Leila to have the duchess seat. They thought they must do something before Matthias realizes that his feeling toward the girl is love. Riel assured Claudine that with the duke never experiencing love or attachment to anyone, not even his own mother; he would never recognize that what he is feeling towards Leila.
• The crown prince was at estate for about 5 days, so things have been busy. There was a party in the mansion, and the duke kept glancing at the window where Leila was leaving from. He thought about their first night. How they were on the floor and how he went so crazy. He thought it had been a while since he heard her cries, and he wanted as soon as possible to make Leila tremble, cry for him, and struggle as he buried himself inside her. He wished time would stop there. His thoughts are interrupted because of the people he was conversing with, but still he couldn't stop thinking about Leila. He called her his beautiful little bird, and when he glanced in her direction again, she wasn't there. He knew she wouldn't dare to leave now, because of uncle Bill but he suddenly panicked and thought what if she did. Later when he checked again, he saw she still she wasn't there.
• He found Leila when he glanced at the window and felt relieved. He went back to the party and noticed how Claudine was good at being the hostess. He thought Claudine was a worthy opponent, and he knew how this was a perfect marriage that would bring greater power to the family name, not something done for mere feelings. But something felt strange, he didn't know what it was.
• Even when the crown prince left, Matthias had to go to Ratz for a few days. Leila thought her days were peaceful because of this. Matthias was finishing things at a quick pace than his schedule intended, even his attendant noticed that. Matthias ordered him to bring a car to fetch Leila. The servant arrived at the hut but Leila didn't want to go until the servant handed her a letter. The letter contained the duke asking her if she was worried about uncle Bill, so Leila went with the servant. When she met the duke, she asked him why he had to blackmail her. He feigned innocence and said it was an advice, since he figured she wouldn't come. He said he would wake after two hours, there was a meal for Leila. More than two hours passed and she didn't want to wake him, she didn't want to eat but her stomach was growling. She decided to eat the cake, Matthias woke up and kissed Leila. All his irritation disappeared, from pushing ahead of his schedule to see her, when he saw Leila ate her favorite food he had the maid bring in. He didn't have a plan in mind, he just wanted to eat and drink and walk together. He thought how he brought a mistress during a business trip. He still kissed her. Leila said to just do it like normal. He bit her red ears. Before she lost consciousness, the last thing she heard was her name through the sound of bumping flesh.
• Leila couldn't really escape after it was over, every time she moved he moved to hug her tightly. Meanwhile, Claudine asked her maid to fetch Leila, but of course Leila wasn't at the hut. The maid waited some time but came back saying Leila still wasn't there. Claudine finally admitted that her fiancé was insane about Leila. She was mad because she needed Matthias to be her husband. All her life, she was brought up in preparation as the duchess. Claudine needed to make Leila disappear, so she thought the way to do that was through Kyle.
• When Leila and Matthias woke up the next morning, he was ready to do it with Leila so Leila said she was hungry. She repeated it again and Matthias kept laughing out loud. Leila thought he was going crazy. Even after breakfast ended, he smiled seeing Leila eat small bites. After that, Leila read the newspaper and Matthias approached to see why she was so invested. He saw it was the part of the mystery novel section, a page he never read. He laughed again after realizing she liked this kind of thing. They went out and Leila was starting to wonder where they were going, but he didn't answer and just brought her to a store without minding the customers and employees who turned their heads towards them.
• Meanwhile, Claudine invited Kyle out to tell her that the reason Leila changed is because she has another man, and that it's the duke.
• The store was surprised and thought this usually wasn't a place to bring a mistress. Matthias bought her new shoes and even bended on one knee to put the shoes for her and Leila realized she was receiving more than what their contract stated. Those around them could see the man was crazy for the woman. They later went to eat at a café and Matthias didn't like how she wasn't talkative unlike when he saw her with other people. He asked her about what kinds of birds passed by them on the other side of the window. He also asked her favorite bird so Leila also asked his. Matthias said it was a canary bird. Leila said she was surprised that it wasn't a big bird, and the duke said it was because it was the most beautiful bird. Another bird passed by them so Leila said that was a dove, Matthias replied that he knows that, Leila got flustered and just kept muttering to her tea cup and Matthias laughed. Leila thought it was really an unusual day.
• Their hands were entangled and Leila made him promise that uncle Bill will never know about this. He got upset, he said they'll always be together but she denied it. The duke thought of Kyle and how Leila had always given Kyle the smile he himself never once received, but now Leila was his woman.
• Claudine was having a meal with Matthias (and someone else, I think it was the duke's mom or her mom). They talked about Leila and Kyle's relationship and Claudine was checking to see if Matthias was interested in the topic. His face remained disinterested, and he excused himself. He thought he knew better than anyone about Leila now. He found himself afterwards in front of Leila's hut. Leila spotted him as she was approaching the hut, and he was displeased that Leila was still wearing her old clothes and shoes and none of what he bought her. Leila didn't want him to go inside and kept telling him to please go but the duke didn't listen. The memories of that sweet day were his own delusion. He dared to regard this woman as something, but she was the one who treated him like nothing. He was the person who yearned for this woman, maybe since the beginning.
• Leila wanted to stab and scratch him with her words again. That day she spent with him, reminded her of a strange feeling and she felt repulsed. Matthias told her to shut up, and his voice was low. He hugged her and threw her to table. They sound of kissed could be hear. Kyle approached the hut and saw it wasn't locked. As he went inside, he saw a man on the table with Leila under half-dressed.
