I am one of them. So there's this novel I read before sometime last May that made me really bored out of my mind and annoyed that the pacing was not getting there yet. Guess what I did? I went to the last chapter and read it. You know... I remember liking that chapter then wanting to know what happened before that because some characters were mentioned. When I went to second to the last, there's events that I did not know so I went to the previous chapter of that previous chapter of the last chapter. See the pattern yet? Before I knew it, I reached until the chapter when I stopped reading. What novel made you do this? Is it a good one or a bad one?
I do that all the time with manwhas. I get bored part way through then wait until it has a bunch more chapters and skip to the most recent one then work my way backwards to understand what is happening lol
I wouldn't say I did this because when I get bored out of my mind but wants to know what happens at the end I just skip to the last chapter if I like the ending I might continue If I don't I just drop it
Some stories give off a smell after a few chapters. If you don't skip ahead to see if your suspicions are correct, you could waste hours of your life on a story that ends in an annoying way.
I do this sometimes with manga… it just gets really boring and I skip to the latest chapter but all of a sudden it’s good and I want to know more but recently I haven’t been doing that lately, I always hated getting spoiled and not enjoying the story cause I knew how it would end
I guess I kinda share you experience, but in a video game. I played mass effect trilogy in backwards.
Wait, you know what? I question that myself too sometimes. Spoiler We just probably wanna see the world burn. I am seeing lots of comrades!!!
Nah all they said was that they skipped to the end to see if the book is good. You're still a psycho for reading a book backwards.
I didn't expect anyone to do this too. Sometimes I also read backwards like that *cough*. Or choose a middle chapter then read forward from that to the last chapter, then read what I skipped... Only did this to manga though, never read backwards from novel.
I do the same. I like getting spoiled so it's fun for me. Also, I just don't wanna spend time on something that I might not like in the end. In my case, it's the opposite. I never read paper books this way but I read a lot of digital books backwards. THIS!!! ISTG people who hate spoilers just don't understand the feeling of uncertainty and discomfort of not knowing whether that book's gonna be worth my time or not...
I've done this when reading works that smells like bad ending. Since I want to know the conclusion but can't torture myself enough to read through the progress. One of the famous work in which I skip all of the process and only watch the ending is School Days. I kinda know the gist, and it result in me not wanting to watch it at all, but the last episode intrigue me and make me watch it. I don't know what to say expect for being satisfied for the ending. From all of the things I heard, he deserved that. Still, I never ever read backwards...
*shrieks* I have done it several times when the trajectory of the novel seems to go downhill with so many useless filler events and characters so I skip to the last, thinking it something interesting I go the previous chapter and then back again kekekeke
