ohh this was a really cute story!
Prince Rashid was pretty much 'whipped' from the very beginning haha
He really tried his best to seduce Sianna!
And his half-sisters, Princess Aris and Princess Grace were quite lovable

Rashid and Sianna met when they were around 10 y.o., where Sianna saved him from being harmed by his own mother, the Empress
But the Empress made him forget using memory manipulation magic
His vague recollection of the time was probably the main reason he saved and brought Sianna back to the empire after invading her kingdom

After falling in love, Sianna had to succeed the Empress' trials in order to become Rashid's official partner and fiancee
First task was to show exemplary knowledge in culture and etiquette
Second task was to develop good relations with the imperial family members and obtain their support
Third was to bring forth a high-level, indisputable achievement; Sianna helped rebuild her old kingdom and became its prime minister

 

I am really loving them story!

 

I don't remember in detail the first 2/3 of the story, so I'll just spoil the ending!

Spoiler: Empress Maria

The main antagonist is Rashid's mother, Empress Maria. She came from a fallen rural barony and became best friends with Evelyn, a daughter of a rich commoner family. She fell in love with Evelyn's older brother and promised to marry him. While her lover was away for family business, Maria was forced to attend a banquet in the neighboring marquisate, and met the emperor there. Because of her fearless attitude towards him and low status, the emperor decided to make her his wife to scorn his mother, the empress dowager.

Maria rejected his proposal, but the emperor threatened her; her lover was abducted and beaten, leaving him with crippled legs. To save him, Maria broke up with him and went to the capital. She became the empress, but there was only hatred and resentment for the emperor, which worsened when multiple consorts were being brought in, when Rashid was born, and finally when she found out that her lover committed suicide. She didn't love her son at all, but showed fake affection so that he would follow her unconditionally. Putting the empire under her feet with a 'puppet future emperor' was Maria's ultimate revenge against her husband.

That was the reason why she was against Sianna's engagement to Rashid. Empress Maria knew that Sianna was smart and resourceful and wouldn't allow her to wield her son like a puppet. She tried to set up Rashid with a 'stupid' daughter from a ducal family; the lady ambushed Rashid in his room at night but was turned away harshly. In retaliation, she tried to frame Rashid of getting her pregnant and having him take responsibility. A public trial was conducted with the sage as the judge, and of course he was cleared of any wrongdoings. Rashid later found out that the lady conceived after a fling with a coachman on the night that she tried to seduce him; Rashid used this to tie the duke to his side.

Spoiler: Empress' downfall

After Sianna successfully completed the Empress' trials, Empress Maria tried to prevent a formal engagement to happen by ordering Rashid to capture a faraway land. When Rashid refused, she realized that her revenge was in jeopardy since her son was now out of her control. She conspired with a wizard to put the emperor under mind manipulation magic, ordered the emperor to injure himself with a sword during an audience with Rashid, and then framed her son for attempted murder. Rashid was imprisoned in the sinner's tower with no food and water. The empress tried to make a deal with him; kick Sianna out of the empire and never see her again, and she would drop the murder charges against him and reinstate his crown prince status. He refused, and the empress planned to kill him in a week, but the pro-Rashid faction (instigated by Sianna) was able to push for a trial.

After a tip from the father of one of the emperor's consorts, Sianna brought the issue that the emperor was being mind-controlled with magic during the trial. In the ensuing chaos, she used a teleportation artifact to get Rashid out of there. After recuperating, Rashid gathered his military forces and besieged the imperial palace. He was going to kill the empress, but Sianna dissuaded him and handed him a letter which detailed his mother's unfortunate background. Not long after the raid, the emperor jumped off from the roof of his palace and died. When the mind control magic was being casted, the empress gave a command to the emperor that after a certain number of days has passed and no new commands have been given, the emperor should kill himself in the most miserable manner.

As punishment for her crimes, the empress and her closest maid (which was Evelyn, her lover's sister) were exiled to the barren and cold north. A funeral was held for the dead emperor, and later Rashid officially ascended the throne. During his enthronement speech, he declared: I will only love Sianna for the rest of my life, so I will try to make this country according to her wishes.

Sianna and Rashid married three years later. They had two kids, a girl and a boy.

 

I honestly feel a little bad for the empress I know it may be an unpopular opinion but this all would never have happened if that stupid, selfish, vain emperor could accept being rejected no amount of apologies would stop that pain she was feeling.

 

I agree with you.She should have found a better way to take revenge though.

I can't agree with you more... it's a shame the emperor didn't suffer enough.

 

The emperor's youngest concubine was 14 years old when she married him and 15 when she gave birth to a prince, that prince seems to be on the autism spectrum at 12 years old.

 

IMO the moment i lost respect for the empress is when she targeted the ML and FL she should tried to get revenge in another way...

The empress would've been more sympathetic if she only targeted the emperor tbh. ML and FL did nothing to warrant her hate.

Should've worked with the ML to take down the emperor and erase his name from history, that would've been the ultimate form of revenge. But unfortunately she's designated as the villain.

That would have been better but it must have been difficult to look at her son. Considering how much she hated the emperor, she was probably forced to have a child with him.

• Preparation of Rashid's coronation is going on, it's MC who is preparing the whole thing it's perfection really thanks to FL, though others were worried since it happened all of a sudden
• FL was wearing fine makeup and golden dress she looks so beautiful & elegant that it's hard to believe that some time ago she was working as a maid
• Women were taking how she'll be the empress & no one was refuting such gossips ML made everything so obvious
• Oh and yea FL is no longer a maid now she is the umm it stated Prime minister & princess of new kingdom of Asylond kingdom which was in small country & have recently started a full-fledged business of some mysterious flower which is getting viral
• Not only that FL also saved ML, he was kidnapped/captured by the Empress and was in her hands these were the achievements no one can turn blind eye to, many women were in regret but since emperor must have many decedents they were hopeful that they can aim for concubine position at least
• Now there are some characters like Kiran Caroline who were not pleased with how intensely these women were looking at FL Kiran runs Mystic merchant marine and was like he won't see his goods to anyone but FL, it seems mystic merchant is the best magic stone merchant on the whole continent
• Now back to FL who was busy checking how preparations are done, guest that are arriving etc and now Aris is taking to ML btw she's still 10yr old she had a sinister look on her face she says if not for FL ML would've been playing into the hands of empress and thanks to FL he is being coronated ML nodded with calm face Aris continued had she born before him he would've never been able to get the throne, ML couldn't refute cuz just like he was good with swords & on battlefield Aris was good in politics ML said he knows she is smart so please help in future this made Aris red like tomato Aris was like he is crazy and shouldn't let down his guard cuz she can come anytime for him and take the throne
• FL comes in looking for Aris FL have supported Aris in everything she have wanted to do so Aris changes her face instantly and wave at her innocently, taps on ML's shoulder asking him not to make any mistake cuz she's watching then tells FL to sit with her after she's done taking to ML
• ML is like is she really a 10yr old the bigger she gets the more threatening she becomes, FL thinks these siblings really...
• FL then tells ML she came to tell the ceremony is about to begin, fixes his hairs asking him if he's nervous ML laughs there have never been a thing that ever made him nervous since childhood even this ceremony he finds it boring but for FL he pretends a bit and is like yea I'm so so nervous please help me a bit FL notices his behaviors but finds it cute she hugs him tightly in a way so as to not wrinkle his dress & whispers in a sweet voice you can do it~ a satisfied smile appears on ML's face
• ML enters people were entranced by his beautiful appearance unable to take their eyes off him, FL looks proud of the preparations and then the coronation now he became the 17th Emperor people got emotional now they waited for his speech the older emperor liked petty power struggle but Rashid wasn't like him he went to wars was conqueror at the age of just 13 (damn...)
• Now ML opened his mouth for speech everyone stopped and focused on him and he said he the emperor Rashid XYZ (too long name) will love only Sianna ABC (her too very long..) for the rest of his life, everyone was like wtf FL was like did something happened to my ears ehh some people even pinched their cheeks but ML continued that his mind body soul all belongs to Sianna so from now on he will try to create the country she want ML thought whatever FL will ever want money luxury peace he will do it all that he can in his power so he looks at her and ask so Sianna what kind of emperor do you want me to be
• FL frowned she didn't expected this & was embarrassed but she was like now what can she do so she says please become the happiest emperor in the world his Majesty ML smiled warmly
• Now ML kept his oath from coronation day he welcome FL as his empress he had no interest in any other woman FL was his only wife and the person in his heart he woke up to her kiss everyday tea times 3 times a day and being with each other while carrying other gov. affairs
• ML wraps blanket around FL, but FL is like no if you do this I'll fall asleep before you let's sleep together but ML pointed he is night owl and she's early bird she should rest, he kissed her lips put her to sleep hugged her body a warm smile came on his face he was extremely happy
