I agree, it's justified for male characters to get super suspicious towards a female characters that are doing secretive things that may or may not harm the male character.

Oh its not about that, he is a predator, tohru's mom was in a very vulnerable position and needed actual help (with getting a place to stay etc.) and a lot of therapy, and he keeps being viewed as wholesome because tohru happens to be such a nice person
