Yeah, but that doesn't make them any less guilty. Neglect is still neglect, abuse is still abuse. I'm barely functioning as a young adult, and have zero (0) faith in anything at all, and stumble way too much in things my peers seem to easily breeze through. That is very good to know, all is well as long as you are doing better. But seriously, I also thought those were my final weeks. I even told my parents to 'not waste money' on me. Almost laughable when you read these lines, but at that time, it really seemed like that was the end and there was no recovery.

I take an inhaler now, have been doing so for the past two years, and now I've tested positive for COVID again. It's not as bad as the first time, but it's still bad enough that I can't speak properly.

My advise, little junior, is that lifelong matters is not something that can be decided so easily. You must know that person, and that person should also know you. Trust is the foundation of affection. Learn from your siblings, or start with small gifts. Not meeting is also okay. Hope you do well.
