I just said that tler 'suddenly disappear' so that mean 'tler didn't tell us anything and disappear' not 'tler was sick but I still complain anyway'

Hate to burst your bubble but here goes.

I run an ad network, Google would not approve me, if I cannot follow their policies.
Also, to each his own, I rather be honest. Being honest does not mean I expect others to understand.
    Have a nice day

I hope you realise how dumb this reply is.
But you know what. Whatever. If you can't get it then forget it

What @Chize is saying that emergencies or accidents can happen anytime. If something happened to you or your loved ones, would be the first thing to come into your mind is to update your novels?
Of course not. Because if it is, then you definitely wanna check your priorities.

Also do you know what will be the effect of complaints when a translator went MIA and just came back to see those messages?
It will kill their motivation as a translator. Also saying "sorry" after complaining and then learning the circumstances won't do sht about it.

Just to say this too. The translators don't owe you anything, so you don't have the right to complain.
Don't act as if you've never broken even a small promise to anyone, it sounds hypocritical.

It's their own project. Their own time. Their own efforts.. They can do what they want unless you pay them.

So, if the tler disappear for a year, and never notify us about that because his mom was sick, does that mean he has to treat his mom for 24/7 for the whole year without stopping for 15 mins just to open a PC and write that "My mom is sick so I don't know when I can get back"?
Unless the tler ( or relatives ) met with something serious, and, when I learn about it, I would naturally apologise for my bad mouth, but until I have been given some information, I will still complain.

And it's not like not complaining about anything will do shit about it either.

If you broke some small promise, doesn't mean that you have a right to break any one of them, and it's not like if you broke them no one will complain about it.

'Donation for more chapters' is a way to pay them.

Life is not that simple. What if he was emotionally destructed from the loss? Posting on a website would be the last thing on their mind.
If you made donations especially through Patreon, it is within your right to ask for a refund

If I ever learn about it, I will always apologise and delete my comment ( If I could. ) because that's all I could do, but well, you're right about the Patreon one.

My wireless is shit so being forced to load multiple pages in a short time really can ruin the reading experience for me. I don't complain about it (well, I complain about my internet) but I don't even try to read from a site that breaks chapters up into small pieces and makes me load a new page (with extra resources used each time) every minute.

It's not like reading a book... because books don't have ads every page, and turning the page on a book doesn't require a stable internet connection. Even magazines don't have ads on every page.

You know that some people translate because they truly love the original work and want other people to read it, even if it's not on their own site?
These complains are real. People complain about everything except tl/english quality. Life is interesting like that.

    Hoo-fucking-boy.

If a family member I cared for was so sick that they required my care to a level where it meant I had to put other parts of my life on hold, it would be a fairly serious situation I imagine which would put me in a place of deep emotional worry and concern, and in that kind of mental and emotional state the last thing I would want to deal with would be a bunch of people on the internet that I don't know yelling at me because I stopped providing a free service for them out of my own time and leisure. I would sure as shit not really have the energy to spare 15 minutes for people whose kneejerk reaction to "that free thing I was provided at the expense of the time and energy of someone else stopped being provided to me" is "go make angry complaints demanding details about the personal life of strangers that is none of my business in order to justify me not getting this free service anymore".

No one, but especially not to strangers to you whom are giving you free content at no cost, should be required to regale you with painful details about their personal life to assuage your impatience and entitlement. And your apologies after the fact don't mean shit when you've made an already emotionally trying experience worse by guilting them over truly meaningless bullshit.

Situations with donations/Patreon make things stickier, yes, but to pre-emptively shut those arguments down, I'm not talking about those, at all. I'm talking about the weird entitlement I see in readers who are purely there to leech.

As a translator who real life is just a series of unending insufferable work that crushes your will to life, decrease your ability in believing there is a future and literally sap your own existence to nothingness, believe me, even opening discord or checking my email are the least of my concern. Not when I had mountains of records need to be reported just so that at the end of the month my bank balance could be filled and I will not get my house seized due to mortgage insolvency.

I missed my foregone student days. At least, if I failed my tests, all I get is just some scolding, not some existential risk.

And yes, my work is no fun at all......

If you could still open PC and go to your temporary abandoned website and READ all the comment then you could still post something that could tell us, it would take less than 3 minutes.

And it's not like I would go and insult his dignity and ancestors for not uploading on schedule, at worst I would act annoying and that would be the end, normally I would just "Hey, it's been a while since you have posted the chapter, what happen?".

Reliability is one of the things you need for your site to grow, if you don't have it, your site won't get popular.

My suggestion would be to cut out all the other bullshit at the start and just open with "Hey, it's been a while, wha happen?"
Or even, radical idea, "Hey, I noticed it's been a while, I hope things are okay. Look forward to your return, whenever it may be!"
Like, I'm scratching my head here. If you're aware that your comments are a) annoying and b) warrants an actual apology, then why would you still decide to do it?
    :hmm:
Personally, if I considered behaviour that I knew I would have to apologise for later, I'd choose to just not do it in the first place.

Oh, I can make a full essay of my own rant about the translations' quality, but I never did because I'm fully aware that I'm just a filthy leecher.

But since we're at it, let me make a quick rant post about it :)
