Unless you're looking for instant gratification in accomplishing something in a couple of hours, why limit yourself based on length? You can find something you enjoy reading and just translate it in sections of 2, 3, or 4 blocks. Once you're done with a chapter, post it. You can tell readers that you'll release a chapter a week and they'll be non-the-wiser.
The recommendations have very large chapters. @Alvastar I do not translate myself but pay translators. Given my experience operating a website, readers want instant gratification. Readers prefer you release 4 chapters with 1k characters each instead of one chapter with 4k characters
Try sinister ex girlfriend, however I don't know if it's less than 1k words. It has a crazy yet cute yandere ML, ruthless and smart Mc, and it's a very interesting storyline. Seriously, I MTLed it and it was amazing.

While I can't argue with that, I have a feeling readers will like 4 chapters with 4k characters better. All the cool kids are doing that XD Edit: spelling
If it’s a chapter with 4K words, you can just split the chapter into 4 and release as 4 chapters. I do see some transltors do that.
It's quite cumbersome. My previous and next chapter links are automated by naming permalink as chapter 1 , chapter 2 etc. Also, I have to pick a spot to cut off the chapter, so it does not end abruptly
