So, I have a question if my perception of Asian hobbyist is wrong.

My current perception of them is that love picking up a novel, release chapters for said novel for 1 or 2 months and then dropping the novel and moving on to a new one.
Is that perception right? Or is it an old perception that I wrongly gained of them somehow?

Besides their shitty chapter layout designed to make you click 3 times to read 1 chapter

I mean I got this perception cause novels I read I saw them pick up and drop so often. Is this still true of em?

This just picked up a novel that's been dropped for awhile that I loved reading. But dont want to start reading it again because of that perception I have. So I figured I'd ask if my perception was correct or not.

They get dropped because they don't get enough views. The site is profit motivated. If it brings revenue, it will continue.

Well if no one is reading those novels or few read them then they have no reason to translate them
other people here translate as practice or for fun but some do it for revenue so they won't waste time on something that doesn't generate any

There are a lot of translators that split chapters into parts.

Wonder if they thought cause they keep dropping people aren't willing to trust them when they do pick up a novel people like.

I mean I cant be only 1 who has avoided them because it seems they always just drop novels

That was my view on them 2 but wanted 2 make sure I wasnt just being prejudice against them with a false view.

    Seems view wasnt wrong tho.

Maybe if the novel I want is still there in 6months I'll give them a chance. Till then I guess i cant trust them. Dont want 2 go through phase of getting into novel just to have it dropped

That site is all about money, it's like a low-level Qidian.
Edit for the user who quoted me, just in case and thanks for the reminder: We understand translators gotta earn money, but they shouldn't do it like this.

This is why I'm using other sites rather than directly reading from them, I'm really sorry because I usually use the translator's site rather than aggregators even if the site is ugly, but it's simply unbearable.
If you don't plan to complete the novel you've picked up then don't start it, it's an insult and disappointment to the fans of those novels.
Fun or practice, you can pick up short novels then. Profit? then you'll have to read a lot about people's interest and the novel's popularity and ranking in the country of origin before picking it up.

What I do to translators that divides their chapter into parts even though it is small enough to even be considered as a single chapter is... I read them in pirate sites. Especially those who are powered by Patreon... I respect translators and their hard work, but even if I am filthy leech, I expect the same respect even just as a fellow human being. Milking me like a cow for the ad review. *tries to spit like a baws* Pweh.

Now before some person comes here and throws a fit I think we should all state that we understand translators gotta earn money, but they shouldn't do it like this.

That's a rather short-sighted way to look at it, since if it negatively affects peoples' perception enough that they won't read on your site even if it's a novel they want to read then it's gonna end up affecting you in the long run.

One of the reasons WuxiaWorld is still so popular is because they are consistent and very seldom drop novels once they've been picked up.

I have nothing to do with the site though...
But true, they rarely drop novels and the quality of those stories and the translations are nice too

I agree, now it's common to do it, I have no problems with that. But you can't be so untrustworthly, what if some readers spent money to donate for chapters? and now they drop it.

Maybe, but if wuji is sticking to the current format, then it's probably working fine for him. An instant hit is probably better than a slow build up.

Actually I quite like teasers. It let's me know if the story is any good and if I should try to MTL the rest myself. It's a lot less intimidating than going to Sto or Piaiton and reading blind. So even if the translator drops it, I'll already have an idea of whether or not I like it since someone else already did the scouting for me. So yeah... teasers and drops are fine by me.
