Recommendations novels like Top Tier Providence

I want a novel based on progression and character-building instead of mainly focusing on world-building.
For example like in Top Tier Providence the mc stays in one area and focuses on becoming stronger while taking in some friends. I don't mind if its not exactly the same type but I want it to mainly be about the mc exploring new powers he can gain and stuff like that.

TLDR; Progression fantasy novel based around the mc exploring new powers and discovering how to improve himself or streamlining the system he has.

Romance is a big plus
No harem if the girls are only to prop up how cool the mc is. I don't want 2d cutouts I want a character.
