Spoiler: Chapter 1/Prologue

Chapter 1 Summary: A little teaser starts off the chapter with the Duke of Balazit’s daughter and the Marquis of Winterfell, mortal enemies of each other’s families, surrounded by a cold atmosphere. Considering they just got married, it should be a joyful occasion. Still, when bringing up the Newlywed Room, Glenn (the ML) vehemently opposes it and promises that he will never acknowledge Nadia (the FP) as his wife and never share a bed with her to ensure he never has a successor with the Duke of Balazit’s daughter. Nadia cries pitifully, acting on point because she was worried about the first night and how to get out of it. Hiding her joy, she prays that he keeps his word forever.

Afterward, a transition occurs where the author makes Nadia’s situation clear. She is an illegitimate daughter who is not loved and used for the family's welfare. Even though she was well-behaved, she still ended up in a political marriage with the enemy family. Her half-sister relishes her unfortunate circumstances, but the FP doesn’t seem to mind.

Then the most confusing and awkward flashback occurs, explaining where the stormy relationship between the FP and her half-sister stems from. In the FP’s past life, her prior engagement was screwed over by her sister after implying she was drugged at a masquerade and forced to sleep with a random man. With too many witnesses, her engagement fell through. Her father, pretending to be loving, didn’t kick her out but hid her in the basement. Her sister comes to visit her, and the FP deduces that this was not only her sister but also her father’s doing.


Chapter 1 Summary (Revised): If you didn’t care to read any of those paragraphs, it’s the FP pretending to be in love with the ML and the man NOT being into it because who would believe an enemy's daughter is smitten with you and not a spy sent to wreck your shit? Well, he’s right, somewhat. She got married to him because her other engagement in her past life got sabotaged by her sister and father (toxic family alert). Wanting to escape that fate, she bets her cards on the ML, even if he is an enemy of her “family,” because who would like to relive that hell again? Just a little acting and botta bing botta boom, you’ve got yourself a loving fake wife at the expense of the ML’s sanity.

 

Does anyone know if her ex fiance actually loved her? From chapter 11 I think it looks like hes shocked and hurt she didn't offer it to him. He wonders if its because hes an outsider.

I don't think he worked with her half sis to betray him. He also doesn't seem pleased at the idea of marrying another noble woman, so I'm wondering if he loved Nadia all along.

 

Is this novel finished btw? I'm looking at Kakao and Chap 142 doesn't seem to say end but it updated last year so..
