So the Asther from the original novel was very similar to her. He didn't love mc's brother, he just wanted to take him from mc's ex fiancé. (Although I'm not sure he loved him either. We see how he really acts when in love and it's very different)
I sincerely hated Lidiana and the emperor in those side stories, the empress is not innocent either since she took it out on Asther and Asther's grandfather who had not done anything to her, but still partly sympathized with Julia, her idiotic husband, nor did hide the interest that he had for Lidiana, even the empress was in front of him. I'm really liking this story. It's like a prime example of the cycle of abuse. That pain can become something inherited, even if you have no connection with it's source. As someone who has read manga/ manhua/ novels where the MC falls for their abuser, it's refresing to read a story that's about stopping it. I don't hate Kyla for not saving her brother in her previous life, it's not the easist thing to recognize someone in crisis. I hate how systemic abuse is. Where was the school, where were the teachers and classmates when all this was happening? This happens in real life and authorities tend to ignore these issues (and them mourn when victims suicide) because it's easier. I can only hope this story won't be too bad, I really don't care much about the ML so far. I actually like that Kyla isn't traumatised from those things so much because it gives her a bit of freedom in her judgements.
