Been binge reading this one brain dead QT novel using MTL and there's this one 'villain' in every arc who's obsessed with ML. He's done so many evil acts such as torturing MC, drugging ML with asophridiac, using ML to his own advantage, slandering MC and ML seperately etc. I hate him for everything he did but at the same time I want to slap him and tell him that he should wake up and stop being delusional because he's ruining his life for someone who'll never love him. In a lot of these worlds he's been by ML's side since forever so I understood his hostility (albeit extremely excessive) towards MC but at the same time I didn't feel much remorse for him when he got face slapped by the cp. I only thought "You did this to yourself.". Also, if the MC did not posess the og owner's body, the original would have gone the same route as the villain. He would've also made a shit ton of bad choices inducing the ML's hate. Given, he was a tad bit worse than the og owner of the body since he is after all, a villain, but even so the ogb who was just as bad as him was able to get redeemed and loved by ML because MC posessed them so was the villain's only mistake not getting posessed by a random dude with a system??? Man idk, I want him to stop committing these acts but at the same time I would have no reason to read this novel because I literally am only here because I liked the face slapping and the wife chasing crematorium and all of this would not be possible without him. Spoiler Edit: Now MC just used an item to hypnotise the villain and got the him to walk into his own trap and be rped by multiple men then get his pics taken by the paparazzi...just wtf. Edit 2: New arc, WTF I FEEL BAD FOR THE VILLAIN ["That's right. I'm worried about how to make Peng Yi stay away from Bai Yu. Ibdidn't expect you to say such a thing, I wish you victory! Save me having to think of some tough methods to dismantle Peng Yi and Bai Yu. ." Cang Qi said such despicable words without hesitation, causing Ran Lin to be stunned. He stared at Cang Qi blankly, forgetting even the struggle. For a moment he seemed to have lost all his strength. The whole brain is buzzing... Ran Lin still remembers that he gave up Cang Qi for Peng Yi in his last life. At that time, Cang Qi didn't say a word after hearing that he wanted to leave him. Just leave silently. There was one girl in this novel who really loved this guy, this guy was hungry for power and only wanted someone who was equal to him or higher up the ladder than him. She was manipulated by her entire family and they even forced her to death. She didn't love this guy to climb the latter, but because she truly loved him. She was scheming towards the mc because they were engaged before but she was just a naive girl in the end. She threw herself/ was also pushed kind of off of a building afterwards at some point. Safe to say I cried. Kind of want to reread it now lol
Dang...Well lets just hope that in an alternate universe she gets reincarnated and becomes happy. Or she gets reborn, gets her life together and walks away from those scums of a family.
That’s Prince Zuko for AtLA but in novels, I don’t think of any off the top of my head. I mean Trissy from LotM kinda fits the bill, but the story isn’t inherently character focus so it’s something downplayed greatly and presented as if she didn’t change. Also I am sure not everyone wanted Trissy to be “redeemed”
The fake young master from a novel where the MC and villain got switched at birth. MC was transmigrated then rebirthed, so he was mature and has knowledge about technology (Perfect Gary Stu MC without any defect). The first time MC appeared to his real fam members, they all somehow like him even without knowing their relationship. Then ofc the fake young master got jealous, did something bad, then his family for more than a decade immediately wanted to send him abroad. They didn't try to teach him nor understanding why he did such and such. It was also strange that the fake young master who has good education and good parents (Both the rich fam and biological fam is good) didn't have even one good traits. It's like author stamped him as the villain, gives him all the bad characterisics, then threw him away once he fulfilled his use to make MC shine.
Technically, the one getting ML's love and redemption is MC and not the original body so fortunately or unfortunately, the villain missed the lucky chance to get his entire existence swallowed up by a random dude. I mean, at least, he's still alive . I guess it would have been more pitiful if he knew that the guy he ever loved and was not able to get by any means got together with someone who was using HIS body and lived happily ever after.
Truee I always think about this every once in a while whilst reading transmigration/QT novels, you see the ogs doing everything in their power just to be by ML's side but in the end the only delivered destruction to themselves. Then a random person posesses them and suddenly everything they could never achieve is easily handed to said posessor. Its especially heartbreaking when other characters say "I like this version of you better than the old you." ah. When I tell you about all the og owners of transmigrated bodies my heart broke for all because of this one line...Its tantamount to saying to the og; "Your existence is not needed here nor do we appreciate it, this person is better than you anyways it was a good thing you disappeared and got replaced." Plus hurt points if it comes from the og's close friends, family or acquaintances... I feel like I've seen this one before from a novel I dropped, not really seen because I never reached said part, I just heard from the comments of complaining rereaders
I also forgot the title since it's been a while It's from jjwxc (BL), might already be translated on NU. Yeah, sometimes it's weird that the Og is described as not having even one good trait. I think there's also QT where MC need to fulfill the Og's wish, and one of the Og's wish is to make ML fall in love with him? Like, why?? Even if ML fell for MC in Og's body, it's still not Og...
I usually hate MCs, not all, just the ones in dramas and have low EQ and IQ, the ones who keeps suffering even though it's their fault and pride is the root of all their suffering and then act like the world hate them when he could have choice and they just didn't choose to leave. Maybe get annoyed with the brainless villains but those MCs will always be the ones I'd throw out a horde of zombie without a flinch, my mental health is too important to sympathize with a pit they digged themself.
Maybe that's why most of the original owners are 1)scum(so that MC can whitewash them, and readers don't feel bad about his identity being taken over),2) villain/cannon fodder in a fictional world( so readers can feel a sense of justice for them and since they could not save themselves anyway, our MC is here to take the baton),3) a mistreated person( so MC can take revenge for them, readers don't feel bad here because they were already mistreated badly and could not change anything so what was the point of holding on), 4)a dead person( well, they lived their life anyway, no point feeling bad),5) a person with responsibilities but with limited capability( like those farming novels where MC transmigrates into those teenage eldest sibling with younger siblings and sick/no parents, so as they could not support the family, our MC is here). These are the various ways authors try to make readers feel less burdened emotionally and just enjoy the story(they work as well, at least on me and I do enjoy and like transmigration stories) . Still, sometimes readers(me) get creeped out thinking about the fact that someone is using a person's body to interact with their friends/family/colleagues etc.( especially if their change goes unnoticed, or even if they notice but since it's a change for the "better" they don't delve into it ). Although such thoughts only appear when I have nothing to read so that I can have the leisure of thinking about these philosophical thoughts, at other times, if the story is good I don't even think abut such things.
There's a villain that has the same surname as my mom ... It's mostly just funny more than anything else , his name isn't used all that often but still .. I do think that the character was very well written and It's sad that he died but he really does need to pay for his actions. Kind of sad that his dad the more evil guy didn't get punished as much as he did

Sure have. A good writer will play your emotions and feelings like that. Hating and looking pitying a villain plays with your head. In cartoons I do this for Wylie Coyote.
