Discussion Do you know any anime that you think are hidden gems?

Tatami Galaxy. It was released way back in 2010 but getting a season 2 September this year

 

Not necessarily a hidden gem, but here are my list

Some of these may not be THAT obscure, especially if you grew up watching Animax in the 2000s, but people NEVER know what I'm talking about when I mention any of these animes. Wolf's Rain is a bit of a weird one... most people don't recognize it until I describe the plot, then they go OOHHH and say a friend's friend's friend watched it when they were younger and became irreparably traumatised by the sads (same, bud).

* This one was already mentioned by someone else but I love it too much not to write it in!

Not sure if unpopular but only anime I will ever really remember or watch ever again is
Isekai Shokudō
goated slice of life, so goddamn simple and slow but I love it

 

I'm a sucker for Slice of Life-ish shows... and tbf, i don't think some of these are hidden gems, These were popular back then, so yeah more like just Old and prolly almost forgotten titles....

anyway for me, it'll be

Natsume Yuujinchou (natsume book of Friends)

Hanasaku Iroha.
Gugure! Kokkuri-san - i rmb this to be cute funny and has a very catchy OP song lol

 

The number one hidden gem is definitely Kochikame for me. 300+ episodes but unfortunately not translated in english.
The anime is old but the comedy is still gold tier. The characters are also likeable.

 

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi: Pretty good + funny shounen
Skip Beat: Probably my favourite shoujo
Zero's Familiar: Old Isekai stuff; probably the only isekai that has a resolution as well
Eyeshield 21: underrated sports anime
Genesis of Aquarion: I don't particularly like mecha, but this and its sequel I did binge

 

White album 2, is the only good love triangle anime to exist from all that I have watched. (In terms of manga domestic no kanajo is better)
Truly a hidden gem romance. The visual novel is even better if you can play it.

 

Charlotte, Angel Beats, Beelzebub

 

Bartender is a soothing show about a bartender sitting at a bar and making people drinks.

There’s a basic plot, description of the drink’s history, and then resolution of the plot.

It is a very mellow soothing show that I really think more people should check out just to brighten up their day.

As a really short series it shouldn’t take too long to watch. Plus it has a pretty nice ED.

Then there’s a whole lot of comedy shows out there that people don’t tend to notice as well as tons of OVA/ONA that people don’t know about.

Angel Densetsu was a pretty decently themed manga and had a really short anime adaptation that felt faithful. Too short though.
