Many are probably familiar with the Chinese Zodiac. Depending on the year a person is born, one of 12 animal constellations is assigned to him or her. These animals rotate on 12 year cycles beginning with the mouse. The Chinese Zodiac has a deep history intertwined with astrology, Taoism, 5 element theory, yin and yang, the calendar, and Buddhism as a way to unravel a person’s destiny, but at its simplest, the Chinese Zodiac is a horoscope. Due to the long history of the zodiac, stories have sprung up to accompany it. A common one involves a buddha and 13 animals. One day, a 仏 decided to hold a banquet with 13 animals. While he was going around inviting the animals, 鼠 said that he would tell 猫 about the party. 鼠 then went to 猫’s house. He told 猫 of the banquet being held by the 仏, but lied about the date. He said that it was going to be on the following day. Then, once it was time for the party, all the animals proceeded to the 仏’s house on top of the 山. 鼠 rode on top of 牛’s head and then jumped off the moment they reached the door so that he could be first. 猫 went to bed early that night and dreamed about all the fun he’d have the the banquet the next day. The animals of the zodiac are arranged in the order they arrived at the 仏’s house: mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and boar. As 猫 didn’t attend, he is excluded from the zodiac. In some versions of the story, 竜 is fourth because he took a detour to save a village from burning down. I was born during the year of the horse, So I tried emulating a horse by running on my tippy toes, to run faster. I have no idea if it actually made me run faster, but it was fun running like that, your heels don't hurt at all. I have no idea how people run my slamming their foot against the ground. it just feels uncomfortable.
I personally try to run on the balls of my feet when possible. That said, the shoes I wear can make that a difficult task.
Refusing to mention animal names for a classic fairytale? Link at the end of the post? 2000 called, they want their blog post back.
My Chinese zodiac is goat, which is a great coincidence since I was born at hour of Capricorn and day of Sagittarius.
me, my mum, and grandma are all born in the year of the sheep the only part I can remember about the zodiac is the tale of cat and rat and rat and ox legends say the feud between cat and mice were because of the rat scamming the cat
it feels like I’m slamming my foot. I can’t run more than 2 minutes like that. I should have specified.
Let me help you a bit 鼠 = Mouse 猫 = Cat 牛 = Cow/Ox 竜 = Dragon 仏 = Based on G-Translate, it means 'Buddha'
