I’m not against Bastian protecting Odette since it’s obvious that Theodora won’t let Bastian and Odette and will definitely cause more harm! Im only against that Bastian till now is acting selfish with his feelings (when someone wants to leave you have to let them go ) here Bastian is deceiving Odette by letting believe that she is free from him, when it’s actually the opposite.
Bastian arc regarding Odette by now: I will divorce her after two years I don't care. I think I like her but I will divorce and marry suitable person. I love her and I want our marriage to be real. She betrayed me, but I still won't let her go so I will rape her so we can have child. I will use child so she won't leave me, until I stop loving her. I will use child but I will never let her go. Ok our child is dead and I was peace of shit but still I will use that she thinks Meg is alive so she will stay with me. This is not working, she is in pain so I will tell the truth but I'm not letting her leave. Oh she really wants to leave, I will let her but I will do anything to get her back and I won't leave her alone. Again character development that I didn't want.
State to the point, Bastian is getting character development but not the one we want, he is slowly improving but still not letting go of his obsession is what actually is harming Odette, soon or later he will realize this fact and by that time the ‘real’ redemption will start.
I edited last chapter to make it understandable and reasonable. Reading Bastian’s last thoughts I really feel sorry for him.
I am sorry but why it's so hard for them to address the elephant in the room. Correct me if i am wrong, the last time she told him she wants to leave him was when she was still with his child and believed that Sandrine will become the Duchess. Instead of questioning him WHY he wants to keep her by his side when they don't have any obligations left both are busy deceiving and hiding things from each other. I know Bastian won't approve her to leave that easily but atleast he would have been forced to give an explanation. In the latest chapter she only asked him why he is not following king's order but then the convo took a different turn .We as readers know his feelings not Odette. And this makes me so frustrated sometimes. These two will do anything but talk.
I guess it is realistic he is cold and ruthless, with potential to be decent person, deep deep down, so he won't change completely that easy. But come on is it that hard to say I'm sorry and I love you, but I guess Odette would not appreciate that nor forgive him even if he does that. Sigh
Can someone please explain why I only like Korean novels?!? I was looking to read another book from an English author (seems I have already filtered through the K novels that are translated), and I though "nah". WHY!? What is the deal?!
Well,for me I like k novels because it's longer than regular books.We can see more of the characters,more events,arcs and we also have lots of side stories while in books the best we get is an epilogue.

My guess will be.. Bastian will let Odette go? Since he said to Keller the mission has been changed. He will not monitor Odette. What he said was like "he was just close his eyes" that he does not like to know what will happen since if he knows what's going to happen the harder for him to let go...
Yup! I've also said it before, I was 100% sure that Bastian will let her go. My Solche instincts were on point. He probably either let her go without asking anything or he told that she shouldn't need to run/escape and she can go as it is without any schemes.

Though the chapter is heartbreaking, Bastian letting Odette go because he knows they were both hurt, including her, was admirable.
