I read the comments under the raw novel, they said the ending was sad.

 

I don't think it was. it was a pretty happy ending overall with general resolution of most of the major plot points
although there are definitely some plot points I wished the author had resolved instead of leaving it to kind of hang but they were more minor or rather felt like they had kind of been put in at the last moment?
i will say only having 3 SS left me dissatisfied but I suppose this story was more focused on the MC's relationship with family and her gradual growth to accepting the concept especially with such a tsundere family rather than on the Mc's romantic relationships

so the MC (let's call her Annette or Ann from now on) is a soul that came from Korea to land in the body of her current host, who actually is the daughter that the Duke of Aubrey had lost. the reason why the eyes became a different color is pretty complicated but the short of it was that the Demon of the Void (DoV) had taken the color along with the power of rust from the body when the original soul made a wish to it. The OG soul or Annette (we'll call her Shekina for now) is the other green hair purple eyed girl in the pictures in the first post; she became the current DoV due to that wish she had made in her past life. her past life being the one that is the story that Ann is recalling.
Ann gets her revenge on the mad scientist by essentially stealing all his inventions and causing him to get kicked out of the inventor's society by ruining his reputation via revealing that he has dabbling in chimeras (it's considered taboo b/c you're playing with life which was seen as something strictly in god's jurisdiction) also that he was performing human experimentation. He eventually gets tricked into signing a loan agreement and being unable to pay it back he was on the run until he was caught by Olam, who proceeds to treat the Mad scientist as a test subject like he had done to the ppl he had used in his human experimentation.

Olam is a character who's origin isn't really clearly resolved in the story but he's a major part in resolving Ann's curse

The end of the main story has Ann and the Aubrey family living together along with Shekina. Duke of aubrey learns what's going on with with Ann (her body, soul, and shekina's situation both present and past) around the latter half of the story.
Silver haire ML is essentially dating Ann and in the last SS Ann finally accepts being engaged to him after kissing him to see if she really does like him. The other SS just shows the Aubrey family going on a family trip to a private island and announcing that Shekina would be officially part of the duke family as the older sister

 

How did they find she's their real daughter.

well while she did have plans to use it kind of? it never really happened it just kind of disappears like 10 or so chapters after she gets it. essentially it's kind of one of those plot-points that just gets forgotten by the author.

she wasn't a dog to begin with she just inhabits the body of the dog owned by someone involved with her past life that also had a role in how she ends up in her current situation. that event happens near the end and gives a bit of insight into how her soul ends up in Annete's body to begin with.
Duke's daughter never got another body she's essentially a lost soul that took form due to a wish to a demon in her previous life she eventually gains uh a body of sorts by granting other's wishes and taking a part of their body in exchange similar to what the demon she wished to did to her
the OG host of the MC's body is quite literally the Duke's daughter or Shekina who is now the wandering soul that is the demon of the void
