Chapter Summaries: Spoiler: Chapter 4 Lionel / Nil (emperor) just confessed his love to Lindel. She is in disbelief but also ecstatic to hear those words from the one she has always loved. She's excited to the point of trembling with joy, which is unfortunately misinterpreted as shuddering in disgust by Nil. Lindel doesn't know whether she can believe Nil's words of confession because it was spoken so suddenly, but he also isn't the type to play this kind of cruel prank. Lindel is conflicted because she reveals that her contract with a dragon was made thinking she was hated by Nil. Nil tell Lindel that she will soon be his empress, farther ensnaring her to him. Lindel does not want that kind of responsibility. She has no desire of climbing the social hierarchy. But the main issue is the fact that she wouldn't be able to leave the palace. Her freedom would be nonexistent, and this also would prevent her from being able to fulfil her contract, thereby resulting in her death. How To Escape the Emperor: Try to reason that nobility won't accept her as empress. ❌ Nil don't give a f*ck as well as states that no one would be dumb enough to oppose him. Straight up rejects the promotion. ❌ Nil don't care, she stays by his side no matter. Tries to clear up the misunderstanding of not actually being sick. ❌ Nil doesn't believe her one bit. Just thinks she says this to get away. Nil, the emperor, will hear none of it and his decision is final. He will keep her by his side so she doesn't go off to die somewhere he can't see. Once Nil leaves, the dragon appears in Lindel's room. She is beyond frustrated with her predicament. Spoiler: About the Dragon Dragon's name is Noir Laroque. A handsome dark-haired beauty. A dragon as well as the 'strongest mage' (according to him). Something about their contract has implied that Lindel was tricked / swindled into signing a deal with the dragon. (Conned out of her life-force / vitality?) Promised to make ANY wish come true. Also, Laroque is a 'sealed dragon,' whatever that means. Lindel can't escape due to a magical barrier around the palace. Laroque is confident he can weaken it enough for Lindel to escape. But this plan fails. Note: Apparently dragon blood flows through the previous generations of emperors. So, dragon magic is useless. No magic could be used inside the imperial palace EXCEPT for divine powers. The gravity of the predicament finally settles in for both Lindel and Laroque. She is stuck and the chances of her being able to fulfil her contract with the dragon seems impossible. Spoiler: Chapter 5 Lol Lindel and Laroque are fighting over the fact they are trapped. They were both under the assumption that the emperor wasn't interested in Lindel in the slightest. When Lindel has no explanation for the sudden character change in Nil, the dragon straight up asks what's wrong with him (the emperor Nil). Apparently, the room is soundproof via a spell, so yay? They stuck. Laroque has no magic left to force an escape. Lindel has no one to ask for aid since everyone thinks she is desperate to escape so she can off herself somewhere alone. Note: When a dragon is sealed, most of their power is taken away. Note: Shuline Emfester is a Sword Master, knows Lindel well, and therefore a very competent guard. Escape impossible. Damn competent employees! Lindel looks for loopholes in the type of magic that can be used in the palace. Magic cannot affect contracts. Laroque appeared in the room, but not through the use of magic but the contract. Lindel wants to read over the contract, but Laroque is reluctant to conjure it. So Lindel was made to believe the contract was simply 13 pages... but that's not true. The whole contract is actually 1,700 pages and Laroque only showed her 13 pages of it. She's obviously annoyed seeing how much she has been scammed by the dragon. Spoiler: About Lindel Illegitimate child of Count family. Trained hard. Had few friends. Her Wishes - ❌ Wants father's recognition through sword skill. ✅ Wanting these skills to be recognized by those who once mocked her. Respected by her peers. ❔Wanted to be like Shuline, her sword teacher. ✅ Swore to make Nil emperor. ✅ Self-love Spoiler: About Lionel (Nil / the Emperor) Pretty like a doll. Illegitimate child of the emperor. Hated by everyone. Lived expressionlessly to survive. Lindel met a dragon and decided she was ok with borrowing its power to be able to achieve her wishes. Lindel of the present is ready to kill the dragon over the amount of paperwork. Dragon has a sub-space, but living things cannot enter and would die from internal warping. So, no go for an escape route. She vomits more blood and feels dizzy. No other pain, just lacking in blood and strength. Laroque claims that Lindel's body is flushing out impurities in the form of blood so her body can be in 'optimal condition.' Spoiler: Chapter 6 Lindel gets herself cleaned up before anyone can come in and rekindle the chaos of seeing more blood. The room is a mess due to the conjuration of the papers. Laroque is tasked in cleaning up the mess, but to leave the contract on the table for later perusal. Note: The contract can be summoned without exploding the room, much to the chagrin of Lindel when she realizes that. Shuline calls to Lindel in the room (to check-in with her?) Lindel is frantically trying to make sure everything is in its proper place and to hide the contract so Shuline doesn't take notice of it. Solution: Lindel unintentionally stubs her toe and her groan of pain causes him to rush into the room. Spoiler: About Shuline (Sword Master) He regrets bringing Lindel into the palace and letting her meet the {current} emperor. He interprets Lindel's expression and behavior as showing fear towards him (about her 'situation?') She appears reluctant to reveal her condition to those around her. He is aware of Lindel's feelings for the emperor (like everyone apparently is). Doesn't believe the emperor's confession of words and this just saddens him more about how 'his child' ended up like this. Extremely sad to realize Lindel is dying (even though she isn't). Shuline and another knight are about ready to call for the priest, but Lindel asks them not to. The priest can't do anything about her condition, words that once again crush those around her hearing them. Instead a maid is called for to help her clean up. Shuline asks if coughing up blood happens often, to which Lindel says no and that it looks worse than it actually is. He just misinterprets this as Lindel being more concerned about him rather than herself. He thinks her 'stubbing her toe' is an excuse (to lighten the situation) and has to make an effort to not cry. Looking for a distraction, he takes notice of the messy room. Lindel can barely move around so the only other one who could've caused the mess is the emperor. Messy room = the emperor has treated Lindel roughly (and that maybe it's how he has always treated her). How could someone lock up a sick person only to later visit them and cause a ruckus like this?! Shuline says she can tell him the truth, but she can't. So the misunderstanding stays. Ends with seeing into Lindel's thoughts and how she thinks Shuline is showing displeasure over the emperor and his confession because he's been (forever alone). She has more social grace to know that she should tone down on her enthusiasm. She is left with the interpretation that Shuline was more upset about what she said than she had anticipated him to be.

Chapter Summaries: Spoiler: Chapter 7 The maid (Luna) arrives and cries more to the constant surprise of Lindel. Even if Lindel tells Luna she is fine, Luna doesn't believe it. Lindel's growing sense of guilt is ever present. Spoiler: About Luna Valentine (Imperial Maid) Very skilled maid for her young age. Exclusive maid to Lindel. She may have once felt embarrassed at having to serve someone as ill and unfortunate as Lindel, that no longer is the case. She expected to have a challenging time attending to a noble, but that was incorrect. Lindel is a kind noble. She initially thought Lindel was a pushover, contrary to rumors, lazy, and didn't appear ill. She didn't express sadness, even though rumors say she will die soon. The longer Luna attends to Lindel, she becomes attached and observant. She develops a fear over feeling like Lindel acted as if she could suddenly just disappear and be out of reach. That Lindel was sad, upon closer inspection, and seemed to be lost in her thoughts about her loved ones as she stares out the window blankly. Enduring pain to ease the grief those left behind will feel. Luna's entire impression of Lindel does a complete 180* (even if it's all a huge misunderstanding that is too far evolved to be simply sorted out in words). Spoiler: More About Lindel The youngest Deputy Commander of the Imperial Guard and Count. A genius knight. Well respected and famous among her peers. Influential / powerful enough to be able to put a powerless prince on the throne. Even more well-known for her one-sided love for the emperor Nil. For someone who had achieved so much, Lindel has procured an incurable disease. A disease that gradually weakens her to the point she can no longer hold a sword. Luna resents the heavens for wanting to take this unfortunate soul away. Lindel actually is just extremely bored. Legit Lindel doesn't need to do anything and her actions will still be misinterpreted by those around her. Doesn't eat because stomach is unwell ➡️ ACTUALLY because the food isn't appetizing. Blank stare / Zones out because she get lost in her thoughts about her loved one that will be left behind to grieve ➡️ ACTUALLY because she's bored out of her mind. Anything Lindel says isn't received and just ends with everyone crying (pitying the unfortunate soul). Even the dragon, who is the root cause of the illness, is crying. Spoiler: Chapter 8 Lindel gives up️ If she doesn't say anymore, then ideally, no more misunderstandings will happen. RIP her untouched duck soup Because of latest priest's visit, she can no longer be served greasy food. She'll just have to suck it up and eat the unpleasant sick person food. Couldn't sleep due to hunger pains. Basically Lindel looks bad. Luna takes this as her actually being (more?) sick. Lindel just wants to meet with Nil and be done with it. Things just aren't going her way, as there are more knights assigned to guard the palace after the emperor's last visit. Nil got wind of Shuline having entered Lindel's room unauthorized. As Lindel attempts to see the emperor, she fails to get past the guards. Pulling out her 'trump card' she suddenly faints while exclaiming that she's dying. Once everyone was distracted, seeing that opening, Lindel hopped right back up and rushed past. Running like a fugitive, as she rounds the corner, she bumps into someone almost falling, but saved by the other person. Surprise it's Nil! So even though Lindel forced her way here, to the emperor, it's everyone else's fault that Lindel is where she is. Like blood is ready to be spilled. Lindel exclaims that she was there to see him, not that he believes it. This is still enough to change the vibes and now Lindel has the chance to notice that it seems Nil was pleasantly surprised by her sudden visit (and embarrassed to express it). Spoiler: Chapter 9 Lindel wants to go outside. Nil say NO. It's too dangerous. His solution for taking care of her is to hide her away so she can't get hurt and can be cared for at all times. Lindel says it's boring to be stuck in her room. Nil suggests that when he visits, they can take a stroll in the garden together. She tries to pull the 'when alone I feel lonely and abandoned.' This stirs more of a reaction out of Nil. He feels bad that he didn't think of that, so solution: moving Lindel into his palace so she's no longer alone. Lindel be like☠️ Tries to re-debate her being appointed as empress. ❌Nil is still confident that no one will / can oppose him. Her status isn't right. ❌Wrong, Lindel is perfect for the role and should stop doubting herself (says the people gathering around support her). Says she's not good enough to be with the emperor. ❌But no one would be better suited for him. '❤️All you need is love' is basically the be-all and end-all answer to any doubts over Lindel being empress. Lindel just wants everything to be over. Laughs in hysteria over her situation. She's an empress. Now that all that is over, Nil wants to have Lindel return to her room. That's enough excitement for today. Lindel shoves his hand away, much to Nil's displeasure. Everything is too much for Lindel and she just needs to escape. She's getting dizzy and expels more blood in the sight of many. UTTER CHAOS. Nil princess carries Lindel to wherever the priest is while constantly trying to reassure (himself) Lindel that everything will be FINE.

Me being confused because the manhwa cover shows the emperor as the implied ML while the unconfirmed spoiler says it's a different ML.
That user has mentioned that ML’s name is the same as emperor’s, so it’s probably not a mistake. Maybe ML has changed his appearance by the end of the novel or it was like that when he used his powers? Iirc it was spoiled previously that the royal family has dragon ancestors or something similar, and the new appearance sounded similar to what we’ve seen with the dragon lady, so I believe it’s some kind of fan-service.
Doesn't make sense because the person said that the long haired man appeared quite late in the first volume of the book, which suggests that we're going to see a new person instead. Also, nobody said the Emperor's name is Lionel(?) and the person isn't even sure of the emperor's name. Edit: The manhwa's MTL translation says the emperor's name is Lionel. Maybe they got the name mixed up or the appearance in manhwa is greatly different compared to its novel appearance.
Emperor’s name in the manhwa is Sionel, revealed in the first few frames of the prologue, and it is the same as ML’s name in the spoiler, just a different spelling. Idk why the user said he appears late in the novel as judging by the summaries he’s there starting the first novel chapter. But it looks like the user just skimmed through the chapters and missed some earlier mentions of the ML. His appearance can be a mistranslation or it can be a plot twist to show his affiliation to dragons. But it doesn’t mean that ML is someone else.
