Spoiler: From what I can recall The Royal Family and temple have some sort of power struggle, the temple always opposed royal family use public sentiment etc to maintain their power and for hundreds years the temple have this saintess/priestess figures who never get old, which is how they maintain their power but this is actually not true what they do is kill or dispose of the saintess after getting a female offspring with black hair and black eyes and that's how they make up saintess never getting old thing. This is going on for like 200 years, however the current emperor which is ML have his doubts. So ML decides to visit the temple in disguise and he is successful of course, also there is a guy name Aaron who is one of those who hold power in temple he is the one who abuses FL. Spoiler: FL's side story [*]FL had a twin sister but was physically weak and FL was healthy so they disposed of her sister since there can't be more than 1 priestess, when FL tried to run (ig they were around 5 or so) she was chased by a dog, she have the injury scar upto the very day, so FL have trauma of dogs and Aaron knows that and this how he abuse her. [*] Now ML disguised himself as servant finds a chance to be with FL alone he was actually planning on to get rid of her (?) but changes his mind to observe her more, FL find his appearance very beautiful it doesn't even take much effort from ML's side FL falls for him pretty quickly from the beginning, they spend time together. There was a convo when they were taking about drinks FL asks ML if he drink ML say sometimes and asks if she want to go outside or she wants to drink to which she refuses cuz they don't drink, but ML says if she wants to he can bring it, which he later does by the way and FL find it bitter her reaction seemed funny to her. FL was interested in knowing more about outside world ML even offers her to run away if she wants to but she refuses. Since all the saintess looks younger as soon as any priestess comes out of age she the temple send a guy with black hair black eye so that by the time current saintess gets old the temple can replace them, and FL happens to come out of age in a few days, but she can't imagine doing it with someone other than ML. So when ML comes she asks him if he likes her and confesses to him that she love him he is her salvation ML doesn't respond he don't have feelings for her he is just trying to use her well but he spend the night regardless I think they spend like 3 nights and after that ML vanishes and doesn't bother to visit her till she give birth. Meanwhile he kills the man sent to spend night with FL, FL is under the impression that it's ML who died and blames herself for his death and do her best to protect their child cuz that's the last thing ML left for her, well so she was able to give birth successfully but it was not a girl but a boy with black eyes and shining blonde hairs which were not visible yet ofc. Now FL did her best to hide the identity of child which Aaron and other woman who served her Louis found strange of how over protective she was of child but well until one day they discovered it's a boy with blond hairs which enraged them and Aaron tried to kill the baby but ML arrived heard the sound of crying baby he acted like FL room is his, when FL saw him she was like is that ML, but he is dead so ML introduced himself as emperor to which FL was indifferent she won't care about anyone but ML (ofc I mean emperor ain't the dude for her yet). ML's heart dropped when he realized the fact had he arrived even a second late his child would've died at this point he doesn't have much attachment to FL or his son but he was glad to see the child and was sure it is his, then he asks about who is the child FL says it's her like it actually is her own but that was interpreted she picked the child now idr what happened but the events led to like temple and royal family peace can happen if the royal family take care of the child, so ML take his son with him and FL named him Ian which is after ML Ivan, even ML's aid find it super familiar to his name. Now another set of events led FL into palace before she arrived Ian cried a lot but after her coming he was so peaceful and ML sort of revealed he wasn't dead made some excuses cuz FL was devastated now they went to have dinner he arrived and servants poured drink when FL drank it her eyes grew big and she looked at ML at which he chuckled/smiled it was wine which people of temple are prohibited to consume but at a second glance she saw Louis consuming it just fine as if she is used to it. After that FL went to her room ML told him he'll come to meet her she was waiting looking at the entrance but he came from behind grabbed her and the started kissing but he wasn't shameless enough to go all the way with FL who have recently gave birth, FL suddenly gets alert and goes to Ian's room saying she heard him cry which ML did not he is amazed at her motherly instincts she calms Ian and try to breastfeed tells ML not to look but he is like why, FL points at Ian isn't he pretty ML points at FL very... Now during this time ML's aide knows that ML doesn't consider FL as his lover and is only using her, ML is looking for empress candidates and also selects someone named Jane which will come in picture later and will act as Ian's mother not sure what type of person she is but this acting as mother all happens because of FL's jealousy and stupidity and this is when novel's description scene happens. Oh also that guy Aaron who abuses FL is also a part of royal family I don't recall how is he related and try is best to use FL as his pawn. He and Louis do realize later that the child is ML's and ML is trying to use FL Aaron firstly asks FL to do task in temple's favor which she doesn't comply with whenever he tells her anything negative about emperor she doesn't believe Aaron also tell her that ML is using her but she doesn't listen to him realize this later and sort of join hands with him for the sake of her child at some point she asks ML to acknowledge Ian as his child which he doesn't accept initially but later he do declare him as hair which is why Jane have to be Ian's mother. Jane is nice to Ian idk if she will play bad later or anything like that, but seeing Jane with Ian they look like family hurts FL a lot, and there are times but ML have some attachment with Ian he does care about Ian and I think FL is sort of obvious in ways so it won't be hard for Jane to figure out whose child it actually is. I know the story upto this point and later a short summary is ML realized it late that he love FL there is groveling time and them ending together afterwards but well if Jane is not bad I feel bad for her being dragged into all this even if she is bad in the sense of wanting power position she is still dragged into this I do hope she didn't do anything evil and I wonder what her family is like I hope they are good and she finds someone who loves her.
