any Spoiler Summary on what happen in the end ?

 

Spoiler: Vague ending spoilers

Vague because mtl and i sometimes skip some parts when i really couldnt understand what was going on, so take some of these with a grain of salt

• Joseph chose to sacrifice himself for Vlad to win the war. Prior to this, there was this whole saga where he "betrayed" Bayezid after getting his succession rights revoked due to his sickness (Oksana agreed to this as long as he stays safe somewhere). Turns out only Vlad was out of the loop, Joseph was truly dying and he didnt want to die a useless death so he infiltrated the enemy ranks by pretending to join hands with them. Vlad was pretty angry and confused after his betrayal. No one told him anything because at that point, a lot of eyes were on him as he grew stronger pretty quickly. So to make it more convincing, Joseph had to turn him away. He managed to have one last conversation with Vlad just before dying and it was pretty bittersweet.
• Vlad had this massive battle with his biological father, Sarnus Dragulia, the big bad of the series. It took a lot of help to take him down but he ultimately lost. Sarnus if i understand correctly has been there since the beginning and survives by cannibalizing his children(?? or at least drinking their blood). He was present during the time of the first swordmaster (the voice Vlad talks to).
• This confused me but i think the first swordmaster has split into two personas: Quijano/Kihano the dutiful knight is the voice in Vlad's head, the one who guides him and basically acts like his father if needed. Frausen is the king/emperor side and he's an antagonist for the most part until i guess he snapped out of it and he helped kill Sarnus in the end too. Frausen has a living flesh i think unlike Quijano who is just a disembodied voice, or at least he can manifest himself. If im wrong ignore this lmao. Quijano/Frausen finally rest in peace once Sarnus gets defeated, Vlad doesnt have a voice in his head anymore
• Rutiger becomes the new Bayezid head in the afterstories. There's a succession ceremony where everyone who is still alive attended. Peter Bayezid is still alive btw, and Jaeger too and he's become the commander of the Bayezid knights i think. Oksana is also alive but has basically lost the will to live after Joseph's death... until Vlad told her he'll visit next winter when he goes ice fishing in Bayezid territory (basically a son who lost his mother and a mother who lost her son found solace in each other kind of thing).
• Not really an ending spoiler but Rutiger is interesting too since he's Vlad's most common dragonslaying companion (aside from the black horse ofc). They slayed the deathworm (shown in webtoon), the lindwurm (the fastest dragon), and fought and defeated Mirshea together in one battle. In the battle with Sarnus too, Rutiger was among those who helped near the end using his World.
• Vlad has 2 half-siblings (that are important). Mirshea is Sarnus' oldest child and is a piece of shit, also not sure if man or woman because mtl alternates with he/she so i'll just go with 'they/them'. Sarnus basically uses them as a last resort powerup in the final battle from what i understand (read: as in big bad dad was getting his ass beat so i think he ate Mirshea to get his strength back, not really sure about this). But yeah they're not present in the end. Radu the other half-sibling is a bastard like Vlad, except for some reason he didnt inherit the blonde hair, so he's a redhead. He's also a piece of shit but he fails one mission, disappointing their dad very much so he was thrown in a dungeon to serve as blood supply until one of the priests saved him. Vlad beats him up in a "friendly" sibling bonding brawl and they work together from that point on. He's still alive at the end.
• For those wondering if Vlad ends up with Alicia or Zemina... It is implied in the end through a prophecy (a doodle from the elf priestess) that Vlad and Zemina will eventually have a kid. The love triangle is just an illusion ngl Alicia does like him and tries to poach him from Bayezid a few times, but he only really ever acts like her knight or friend. It's repeated all throughout the novel that Vlad grounds himself by the fact that his adventures began when his unadorned sword was bought from an old blacksmith by the tears of a red-haired girl. Both girls do get some funny interactions in the novel.
• I think this is also obvious but Vlad becomes a swordmaster in the end. He gets some fancy titles along the way: Dragonslayer, Knight who protects the children, Vlad Aureo (last name given to him by the church for his achievements), and Vlad Dragulia (he rejects this one with an absolute passion). But ultimately, he always prefers to identify as Vlad of Soara. He retires from Bayezid, tells his horse to rejoin his herd so they part ways too, and returns back home with Zemina. The brothel they grew up in was renovated to become a proper inn around the middle of the novel and she becomes the new owner for it. Marcella (black haired lady) is still around idk what she does specifically but she does help around the inn. Haven (their childhood friend in wheelchair) becomes a ship captain and leaves for the north/south pole (i forget which) to note some routes they can use for trade.
• The last part of the side story is about Quijano but someone else gotta have to spoil that because i didnt read through much of it

 

What happened to the swordsman who killed the knight he is close to in the early chapters ?

He was working for Count Gaidar of the west, who was basically an usurper and they were also planning to take over the north where the Bayezids were. So first, Gaidar sent his son to propose to Alicia, she had to rely on Vlad to be able to reject it. The son was also a strong knight but Vlad, to the shock of everyone, won and humiliated the dude by asking for his sword as price for winning the duel. Count Gaidar was pissed and asked Godin to take back the sword eventually.
Sometime later, war escalated between Gaidar and Bayezid, and Vlad already received knighthood by then and already was able to summon his own World. I think he knew Godin was still too powerful, but in order to win the war they have to slay him since he was the captain of the Gaidar knights. So Vlad asked Joseph to use him ig as distraction or smth. They had a duel, Godin was indeed still too strong and defeated Vlad but at that point Vlad still managed to hold him off long enough in order to let the other Bayezid knights strike him down. That was Vlad's first official defeat as a knight, but they did win the war because of it.

well, i bet the majority of people who come here are people who want to know about marcela's fate? don't worry, i'm the same as you

 

I'm one of the minority who wants to know if Vlad will end up with Zemina, because I'm strongly rooting for her. She was the one who kickstarted Vlad's swordsmanship career by trading her hair for his first sword. She was real genuine for that. She's also a childhood friend character. Plus she has freckles! She got three character traits that I really love.

I will feel really sad if she loves him but not chosen haha. And after reading the new manhwa update (chapter 42), I kinda ship them harder. The cry and the hug was everything (but romance), that's why I'm rooting for her a whole world more lol
