Unrelated to the series, but does the forum has any discussion about a work by the same artist who drew this, called "Juveniles"?

Eckles never loved her, because love has no violence, but for Eckles it does. What he felt was an obsession, precisely because he perceived Penelope as the only "good" thing around him (after being constantly abused) and he clung to that idea, but it was not love. Even in the manhwa they put the detail that his lock is darkened, like the color of his affection score. Only Eckles and Derrick have blackened locks, unlike the rest of the other men.

And about the escape plan, it wasn't a new nation they would flee to, it was the remains of the Delman kingdom that suffered constant droughts, so they would have a hard time surviving too. If she had escaped with him, she would have ended up dead because she is too independent for Eckles' yandere personality. If it weren't death, the roles would have been reversed and Penelope would have been "the slave". We must not forget that Eckles is a prince of a fallen nation, he also has a certain pride that would be constantly tested to not feel inferior and would eventually collide with Penelope's pride. He never knew the true personality of the protagonist, only her false personality, it would have ended in tragedy sooner or later, and the side stories are a possible proof of this.

If I remember correctly, when she was living in the modern world, all that time she was playing the game and dying and resetting? That was Penelope actually dying and Winter resetting. She kept dying so much her soul was broken. It end up to a point that modern Penelope was a fragment of her broken soul. Penelope instinctively wants to kill fake!Yvonne because she knew she was no good but couldn't because Penelope didn't know she carries the bloodline of an extinct mage who's sworn enemies with fake!Yvonne's. And so fake!Yvonne had the advantage because she knew who Penelope was and it's why fake!Yvonne got away with killing Penelope so many times. Would've permanently succeeded if Winter didn't realize at the beginning (of end) that Yvonne wasn't who she really was and all.

 

The current story is basicaly where sus Yvonne returns & Eckles got in jail but im waiting on that where Penelope went to the island with Callisto for finding truth of about herself.

I just started the manhaw, I have two questions, does she ever break free from the game? I assume so but still wanted to ask and also, idk to me some act like they like her more about her than what the % say is this a thing or just me seeing things lol

I havent read the manhwa yet i only read on the part where Penelope went to the island with Callisto after she escape from Yvonne

 

Hello,
She breaks free from the game in the end but looking upon her 'normal' life in our world, where she suffers from stomach cancer and where her family doesn't really care about her, (they didn't before, she's always been abused by her step brothers and father) and having witnessed Callisto's real feelings for her (he is on the verge of dying at the end after saving her life again but tells her to get her reward and abandon him if that is where her happiness lies), that she decides to stay in the game world and save Callisto. Meanwhile her Earth body dies.
The % corresponds to the kind of love they feel for her but also is a reflection of their personalities.

For example Derreck is a very cold, prideful and introverted man, but who had deep feelings burried under a tight control. His feelings for Penelope aren't 'pure'. But he will never admit to himself that he's actually in love with her. They aren't related at all btw. She's a commoner picked up in the streets by his father.
The very rare pink bird he has in his office is a reflection of his feelings for Penelope. That cage and that bird have various meanings.
The bird is Penelope and how he sees her but also a reflection of himself .
As Penelope, a rare beauty that needs to be locked up for his pleasure and under his absolute control. He fears she will fly away otherwise.
It also represents his feelings of love he has for her. Feelings that were originally beautiful, but now are just pathetic and sad caged by his own overgrown sens of pride and entitlement as a noble.
You can also see this as how he keeps his physical desire for her under very tight control since she's supposed to be his sister. This is why he NEVER acknowledges her as his sister, because he just can't. He never saw her that way.
In the end, it is a love that will never be free or take flight because he can't let Penelope or his feelings out of the cage he created. Thus it is doomed. That is why you have the orange colour when the likeability bar changes into the locks. It is a warning. He would probably be, not physically, but mentally abusive with Penelope if they were to become a couple. She'd have to conform to what he wants in every way. It shoes from the start when he continuously asks her to behave.

So, getting back to the % versus their behaviour, if you closely look at Derreck you'll se that his behaviour is nicer than his % only when Penelope says or does certain things that correspond to what he wants from her.

And it is the same with the others.
When she acts sisterly by bickering with Reynold and fighting back putting him in his place, his % goes up. Since he's a tsundere, that is how he understands love.
With Callisto, that is where she is truest to herself, they are 2 birds of a feather, both having lived curiously similar experiences (albeit Callisto's being more gruesome) and having similar views on life and people. When she shows unexpected kindness and humanity but also treats him as a human being and not just the crown prince, that is when his behavior softens above the %. Their interactions fuel each others feelings, leeting them grow despite themselves almost.
With Winter the magician, it is a platonic love based on mutual repect and friendship. Thus his attitude is different from his % when she does things that loyal friends would do.
With Eckles, it is pretty obvious. They are both pretending and paying a dangerous game that leaves both of them defeated in the end. Eckles will never reach 100% and knowing that she rejects him. Neither are innocent of this outcome, both have made choices and acted upon their 'greed' and desperation to get what they wanted. Each time she beat him with hot and cold his behavior would go beyond his %.

Can someone please explain to me how the magic system works? Penelope is a descendent from the ancient magicians,right?then how come she doesn’t have any mana?can she use magic normally like winter does? I don’t get it
