The next 20+ chapters.... 2nd ml came back to participate in crown prince engagement party. Met with Cardale and revealed what he put in Elise head (slave, plaything, the family will be charge with treason and the trap was set by Cardale) he also revealed that he was trying to abort the child in Elise stomach but Elise found out, that he gonna put poison to abort child so she switched plate and ran away after 2nd ml fell asleep. Now Cardale knows the reason that lead to Elise hided out, beg to be let go and will never come back instead of coming back to him. (This is happened after cardale set up a trap to make Elise thinks that her mom passed away (scene 1 in the novel) Cardale was so upset so he said those slave things.
Now ( my personal thoughts) 10+ chapters that he talked to himself the way he reflecting on this is out of character of Cardale, to me he turned from a very strong no care of the world to an 8 years old that tiptoeing on his memories, and it really drags.......I could have finish the rest in one setting however I lost interest because of sudden change in behavior that doesn't align with what I read 150+ chapters before. And guess what. Cardale is drafting another contract, a marriage contract. After Elise rejected him saying she couldn't take it if he is going to be good to her one day and cruel to her another day.....yeah and Elise already told him she forgave him because she likes him, and cardale was like oh, she must like me because I was her last life line and he told his elders that he already has successor.

Make up your mind, Cardale.

And at the chapter I'm currently at
Cardale is thinking out the curtains that Elise chose for his estate... Yeah... Think of all the furniture and stuffs.

I have officially confirmed to myself that I am now retiring from this trope. Thanks for the spoilers but I'm not even gonna bother with it anymore. I've burnt myself out with plots like this with characters that are hard for me to understand.

there is definitely a redemption arc around chapter 140 after the runaway arc. The novel has ended with a sweet note and it was satisfying! from what i understood cardale had asked for forgiveness and vowed to love and protect elise the right away for the rest of his life.

i think they have a son in the end and the story ends with the couple being happy.

 

How did Damien find out about the count's actions? I just got to the point of the translation where he's introduced

Nah im sorry but the only way he could redeem himself after enslaving a woman and getting her pregnant and driving her to suicide, is if he literally left her the fuck alone or k*lled himself. Like all he basically is doing is apologising and being like omg I’d never do that again lemme make it up to you

Ugh hard pass. I stopped reading when I realized the way they were describing here wa snot only helpless but like almost completely lacking in common sense. It was hard to read.
