While eating, the MC found out that the mom had no intentions to pay the full price and was going to make a fuss about being friends with the owner and deserving a big discount. MC lost his appetite and vaguely remember someone (either MC, brother, or ML) telling off the mom that MC is obviously ashamed by their behavior. If I recall correctly the MC tried to pay the full amount or the mom relented and paid full. I don't think the protagonist was the ML but rather someone related to his mission.
