So, I just finished rewatching the K-On! anime series and the movie. I am healed. Whew~... this is why I love SOL especially the iyashikei ones. K-On! is right in my top 3 SOL music animes - K-On!, Nodame Cantabile, and Sakamichi no Apollon. How about you guys? What are your top 3? (The only music anime I watched this year so far was Mashiro no Oto; the music was great, but the story and the protagonist's character just weren't up my alley.)
Musical anime aside, here are my fav SOL: Yuru Camp Flying Witch Breakwater Club Diary If I add mangas, there are also: Izakaya Nobu & Izakaya Gen Kancolle 4-koma - Fubuki, Ganbarimashou! Komi-san Can't Communicate Also, @NoLongerTheSame you probably should move this thread to Anime section
Fuwa fuwa fuwa fuwa fuwawa? Fueru! If you want a musical anime, you can try 1) La Corda D'oro, Primo Passo It's a story about a girl who found a magical violin who proceeds to create beautiful music following her heart despite not knowing music. In the end she lost the ability to use the violin, but because she wants to make beautiful music again, starts learning music from the start with the help of her friends. 2) Taritari Story is not the best. But the songs are awesome. They have released the entire discography of the anime. One of the characters, Sawa Okita has quite a number of doujin porn of her. 3) Uchiage Hanabi The story is not the best. Kinda shitty some would argue but then again, critics also claimed that My Name was shitty. But the songs, they're amazing. Ai-chan quite enjoyed it personally. 4) Your Lie In April If you don't like heartbreaks, this is probably not something you want. But the music, oh god, it's awesome. The piano and violin is amazing. 5) Love Live Just watch it. You might also want to watch Touhou - Memories of Phantasm. It's not a musical anime, but Touhou music is a genre of its own. There are thousands of Touhou songs, and most of them are awesome. They've been a staple of Comiket for years.
I had watched Tari Tari. It was neither good nor bad; quite average. I can hardly remember the story as it didn't leave me a lasting impression. On the other hand, Your Lie in April was great. The well-written characters, the story, and the chosen musical pieces performed left me in a sentimental mood particularly at the story's conclusion. Although the ending can't be considered a joyful one, I'd say it's a "happy ending" compared to 5cm Per Second which was just so painful. As for the others, I may have heard of them... or not. Usually, if the synopsis interests me, I watch the anime; otherwise... Woah. I thoroughly enjoyed watching those and rewatched them countless times. From your list, maybe you can give Barakamon, Non Non Biyori, and Hakumei to Mikochi a try. They're all as laidback as the ones you listed. I haven't read that many food mangas. Usually, after watching an SOL food anime, I find out that they're adapted from manga, That's when I read a food manga. I have watched Izakaya Nobu along with other Izakaya-themed animes. Have you watched "The Dining of Link Lee"? It's a donghua about a diner/pub; story aside, the food alone was just mouth-watering. Woah.
