I'm translating a WN, and want to add it to NU. But before I could do that someone had already done that. Well, that's fine since it saved my work, but he released the title in English, while I was planning to make them in Japanese. I want to change the title to avoid confusion as the title is in Japanese at my site. Is there any way to change it? I know you can since I saw a title of a novel I'm following before had changed once.
he wants consistency, if it's the Japanese name on his site he wants the Japanese name on NU. No confusion happening
because the JP titles tend to be less cringe worthy, even though we know the meaning of the words. especially isekai novels... and they're more aesthetically pleasing. for example Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyusoukyoku sounds better to my ears than Death Marching to the Parallel World Rhapsody and what the above person said.
exactly, its a bit less cringe-worthy it Japs, as well as making sure people find it when they search for the title in the search option
I'm a pickle not a person. My daoist name is 1000 year Cuecumber slice. I tried to summon someone who can help but err, he might be busy at the moment.
I accidentally created with all caps, that annoyed a mod enough for them to change it. maybe you can try something like that (since only mods can change it) Edit: also, what series is it?
@Hayate With Novel Updates stuff (not forum stuff), use the report function http://www.novelupdates.com/report-problem/ or send an email to [email protected]
he has the Japanese title on his site where he's translating...Too many names being used for a title confuse readers? The translator has a certain leeway with that. Kind of when CN translators leave names in pinyin because it sounds wierd as hell when you translate those names over to English. Artistic license brah.
you can't be consistent on one aspect and not another. too many names confuse readers... yes. why is he adding another one? artistic license, i would agree to. consistency- nah.
@Glaurung because I'm not the one adding the title to NU, someone else did before I managed to do that. I'm not blaming him, just want to find a way to fix it, that's all
Not quite. At least, in my opinion it just sounds stupid. Very stupid. That and I don't know what it means which just makes it that much worse. Personally, I don't quite feel like reading novels which have those kind of title, at least not when you can't find an explanation or something, but that's just me.
someone did it before you did? that means you are the one adding the 2nd name... anyway... for whatever reasons- i hope you do well
Actually, why not try compromising and just add the Romaji/Jap title on the "Associated Names" list on NU. You could tell your readers too the stuff regarding the title. This is just a suggestion. And btw what novel are you translating?
Well, I already added the japanese names to the alt title, just that it wont appear if you put the alt title on NU's search bar. So some people might have some trouble finding it. btw the name is "Isekai Shoukan ha Nidoume desu", or the english one like in NU: "A Second Time for an Otherworld Summoning"
