Hey guys, I saw a few posts on different websites and social media about where to publish an original novel, but I guess none of them has the right answer. So I wanted to know you guys opinion about it. If we have an original novel and want to publish it, where's the safest place for authors to publish their works without being concerned about their rights and stuff? And it's a plus if you give me information about how novels get manhwa adaptations from artists. Thanks <3
Matters what you want to do. If you are talking about publishing to earn money, than people usually self-publish and push that out on amazon or somewhere similar. You have to do a ton of advertising and make it into an audiobook also the cover has to be good. Don't get me started on how much trash is on there. If you just want an audience and views I would recommend Wattpad, Tumblr, and I have to shoutout scribblehub simply cause its related to NUF. I do not know if you have any previous writing or audience. I also would not put all your hopes on a first work as if it would be some Magnum Opus. Personally I recommend publishing short stories or books on one or all of those sites, while building up an audience to publish and actual book and an audiobook. Onto artist this is tough, since you pay what you get for and this cost thousands of dollars. I have not run into someone doing this without some sort of deal which involves splitting the money or you have some sort of close relationship. Overall I wish you luck stay grounded to reality and start slow and steady.
Thanks for sharing your opinion! No, I'm not talking about earning money. And it's not my first work. I have a few viewers on Wattpad, but I believe it's not a suitable place to share a Rofan novel... I wanted to aim to publish it in Korean even, so maybe 0.00001 I have a chance to meet someone with good art skills to turn it into something. But I guess it does not work this way for most of the works (Manhwa or Novels) we're reading every day. I think there's a ranking or something based on the popularity of a novel, so artists send Co-operate messages to authors. Hmm? What do you think about this? I think shooting our shots in Wattpad won't work (for this type of story/novel)
Hmmm, you can try royalroad for english Rofan. Korean I have no idea as it gets tricky once you start changing languages and is not my area of expertise. I have seen those rankings before and the contracts usually involve signing your work away. This is the process on a certain site which I will not name. Webtoon is a place where maybe you can work with an artist if you have a script. This is probably as close as you can get especially if you are trying to get your feet wet or at least build connections. Yeah Wattpad has that issue. Usually the Pipeline is using Wattpad/royalroad > patreon. What helps is just writing and getting your stuff out there the more places you have it on the better. You also dont want to ditch your Wattpad audience no matter the size. I would say to publish on both Wattpad & Royalroad. It may not be the best place for it, but its better than the alternative of nothing at all. You can also post on scribblehub too. I just am not sure how popular it is.
Oh, I see. Thanks for letting me know; since I hadn't heard about those two names, they were new to me, so I'll check them out. I do-keep posting on Wattpad, but its story is completely different from what I've been working on lately. But yeah posting on different Media is better than nothing. I was promoting my previous work on different Media and even though they didn't give me THAT impressive results (viewers), but- it was better than doing absolutely nothing. Anyways, thanks a lot <3 it was helpful
