Hello, when I try to check for updates on my novels they dont show the last chapter I was in and when I click on the link it goes to a random wrong page? can anybody help?
with most of the ones I try like these baron-musou-a-case-where-a-young-man-who-hated-nobility-was-reincarnated-as-a-rural-aristocrat acting-as-the-perfect-narrow-eyed-villain surviving-as-a-mid-boss-henchman I cant link yet, I dont post a lot when I click on links from the novel updates main page it works
links seem to work fine when I click on them...any specific examples? like the actual link itself that is taking you to the wrong place.
Might be something on my account then? its weird, when I go to the novels page basically any link that I click sends me randomly to another novels page and chapter, the only links working properly are the ones on the novelupdates main page when I check the chapter link on the main page I go to the right chapter, when I click the same chapter link on the specific novels page I get sent randomly, and I cant save my novel progress anymore
I would like to just confirm it’s not a translation-hosting website error. This is a link to a novel I translated, and know that the link is absolutely working. Can you click on the “side story” and tell me if you get to the correct page (ScribbleHub.com)? https://www.novelupdates.com/series...cused-all-purpose-maid-sets-off-on-a-journey/ Additionally, have you tried: Using a different browser Using a different device (i.e. Computer, Tablet, a Smart TV’s internet search, whatever) Clearing cookies Using a web proxy Using the inspect tool
I am getting a link to arcanetranslations.com instead, I tried a different browser, tried on my phone, cleared the cookies, for now same thing with the inspect tool it tells me it is www.novelupdates.com/extnu/8905135, I am pretty sure it is something wrong with my account at this point I sent a message on report problem and to that novelupdates e-mail, no reply yet
Oh, damn. I know for a certain the links to my Translations are working. I do think it's an error on your account.
It happens both on your phone and on your computer? You haven’t used any third party app to access NovelUpdates have you? There is no official NU app and using the unofficial ones can cause issues.
it does happen in both the phone and pc and I have been using nu client to access, that might have been the problem, I didn't know it was unofficial, but even if I go normally on the website things still dont work if I stop using the app it gets fixed then? Basically the only way I can track my progress now that this happened is through the app as it is not showing through the site anymore
The app might have permanently damaged your account. I would recommend creating a new one and not touching it with the third party app.
Your account is most likely detected as a bot, so the external links redirect randomly. You're having the same issue I had before: https://www.novelupdatesforum.com/threads/the-external-redirects-are-broken.173994/ I still have this random redirect issue, but my topic was closed and I just gave up trying to make a new one to get it fixed. I can still find the links one way or another, but it's certainly annoying and I've been using NU far less, though. I won't make a new account as that would mean redoing all my lists, etc. === P.S.: I never used any 3rd party apps, only the browser on my computer or phone. I never found out why I was detected as a bot or what counts as "abnormal request".
One of the possibilities of why you would be detected as "a bot" is you have a bad IP address. It might be because you used a VPN or TOR or a proxy or it might be because your ISP just assigned you an IP that was blacklisted previously for some reason. I had similar issue on a different web site when my IP refreshed and some web sites started blocking me as a spam-bot/hacker, even though I never did anything of the sort myself. If it is really the issue, you can't really do anything about it other than just trying to get a different IP. Either try a new VPN address or try to refresh your ISP address by rebooting the modem.
since your account was already flagged at NU it is unlikely to be completely fixed without interference from the admin. The only possible solution I can think of that you can do by yourself is to completely clean out all your cache, cookies, etc, get the new IP, start a new browser session and register a new account. If that didn't work as well, then the admin has to get involved. In the thread you linked to Tony said he checked your account and if your account was ok he should've fixed it. If you are still getting the issue, it might have been reflagged for some reason. Also if you are not using an app of any kind and just browsing through the web browser, there is a possibility that either you have a virus that generates abnormal traffic or if you have a firewall, then it might do something like that. Maybe try checking with wireshark and see if you get anything abnormal.
