I’m currently reading this and the translation is very good and frequent. In fact it seems like it’s the cliche stepmother trope but this one is quite unique, the husband is already dead. and it made it seem like all she cared about was survival but she cared about her son more than survival and she did everything to protect him Spoiler: Original Novel The original novel’s plot was that Hir, the main character was abused very badly by his stepmother after his father’s death. Later he was kicked out of his house and is taken in by Lacias who was a duke and trained him. Hir became the tyrant emperor after many hardships and executed but even then his trauma from his childhood never left him. Spoiler: The stepmother this is about the original stepmother in the book. it was said that she was a commoner who was beautiful and had a pretty face and her personality was like an angel so she was supposed to marry her village lord and become his concubine but some kind of supernatural phenomenon happens to her and she runs away (which is weird how she pulled it off) and later she marries viscount Marshmell who had a son, after marriage the husband gets a disease, STD (Sexually transmitted diseases) which is infected through sxxual activities which means he cheated on her (and also means they never shared a bed) and died not shortly after. after his death the stepmother’s facade fell (it was mentioned that it was like she was possessed and transformed or something) and so she began abusing Hir very badly. This character in the original is really weird, and it was said there wasn’t much details on her. like how did she manage to run away without any belongings and marry a viscount when she was just a runaway commoner? Spoiler: Female Lead She was a modern girl in Korea, but she didn’t have an mother and was abused by her father. When she grew up she went to live independently (Also she liked baking sweets.)but every time her father would find her and ask her for money because of his debts and she was scared . She liked the original novel because the main character, Hir was abused like her but could overcome it and later took revenge, but she couldn’t have the courage to do that like Hir, and she also felt bad for the main character of the novel and thought if she was his stepmother she would never mistreat him. it was shown how she was thinking about the original novel and baking cookies when her father came it her doorstep and was banging on her door, and when she was scared a accident with her oven happened and there was fire and she probably died. when she opened her eyes she was in Lila, the stepmother in the book’s body. Unfortunately it was right when she started abusing Hir, but she quickly went to save him and take care of him, she fired the maids who helped the original body to abuse him and enjoyed abusing him. Lila was very smart and knew that even if she wasn’t the one who abused Hir, her body was so she started taking care of him and making sure not to scare him. I like this FL, she’s very cool and even face slapped (not literally) her mother in law who came looking for trouble. She knew that her sudden change might seem odd to Hir and he may be still scared of her so she went to make a deal with Lacias Wipere, who took care of Hir in the book and make a deal with him, a marriage contract. Spoiler: Male Lead The male lead is Lacias Wipere who Lila will propose a contract marriage to. He was interested in her from the start and falls for her very quickly, and is very cute like a puppy. He is very doting and obsessive (or overprotective) on her and keeps flirting with her but Lila is quite dense and series, she thinks it’s a playboy or contract thing. but they are very cute together and have sweet moments Also when he first met Hir with her he was a bit jealous of him because Lila was very kind to him Spoiler: Hir Hir is a very cute boy . When he was abused he was feeling very sad a kept thinking what he did wrong But when suddenly Lila came to take care of him he felt like she’s a different person, Lila kept telling him that he did nothing wrong and that he shouldn’t apologize and took care of him, made him sweets. They were very cute At first he is a bit reluctant but he warms up to her very quickly and he’s very shy and cute. Later he sees that she’s very careful to not scare him and he’s sad. Spoiler: Mother in law The duchess, Camerline Wipere is Lacias’s mother who is nicknamed ‘Ice duchess’. once during Lacias and Lila’s meeting she barges in and is like ‘why didn’t you inform me of your marriage’ Lila is surprised and expected her to be dissatisfied with their marriage but she’s the opposite and is giving her gifts and is like ‘hey girl thanks for accepting my crazy son’, Lila is very surprised and suspects her at first but the Duchess comforts her. Lila in her past life didn’t have a mother so she was shy to the Duchess and even blushed. so to Lila who never felt the warmth of a mother Duchess Wipere was like a mother figure. Also Duchess Wipere is very funny also this is how our heroine managed to make a contract with the male lead. Spoiler: Contract Marriage Lila goes to Wipere dukedom and lies that she has a appointment (otherwise Lacias wouldn’t even agree to meet her) and thought that it’s gonna be difficult but he quickly agreed to meet her and he pretended to know her to somehow mock her? but was soon interested in her and her calm attitude. and even gave her his coat bcuz she was drenched and it was raining outside) Then she will get straight to the point by using her knowledge of the novel and saying she knows there was a spy who is making troubles for them and that they need some diamond mine that is with the Hiln family. Spoiler: Hiln family and explanations Marquis Hiln had a daughter and son who both competed for the succession of the family. But Lady Sinior Hiln kept losing to her brother, Dawson Hiln and always lived in his shadow and felt inferior to him. they’re relationship was pretty bad. the Hiln family began trading with some neighboring kingdom, but they are having problems on the path, which Lila suggested they use a sea line for trade. and the diamond mine that Lila is talking about here was handed to Dawson Hiln, but marquis hiln will die in a year. so if Sinior can be the successor of the family she will get the diamond mine , and Lila can support her is becoming a successor and then she can get the mine for Lacias in return. and then Lila will give all information about the spy, diamond mine and some other things to Lacias. Lacias really respects her way of making a deal and how she got lal these information but he says that now that he has the information she is useless and what is she planning to do now. but she replies very calmly that the only way to use the path is to get a pass from the Marshmell viscounty. and he is very dumbfounded with the unexpected outcome then they will go to discuss their contract and Lacias is surprised with the marriage contract. The reason Lila wants to form a marriage contract with Lacias is because in the original novel he was he one who took care of Hir, and recognized him as his successor and trained him, but before all of this happened Hir suffered a lot by abuse, so this time Lila wanted to bring them together much earlier and stay with them for a year to make sure nothing goes wrong, and then she will quietly disappear. She thought that regardless of how her treatment with Hir suddenly changed, she would only remain a trauma to him. So it was all for Hir Lacias then becomes very interested in her and agrees see where this goes. and even says that they can forget about the contract and be married for real but she just takes it as him joking LOL. Spoiler: Hir’s first meeting with his new father They’re first meeting is in chapter 49 and 50. Lila tells Hir that she is remarrying and they go to visit him. Lacias is jealous of how she is very kind to her son, but treats him very nicely and Hie even sits in Lacias’s lap to eat chocolate. As for what Hir thinks, at first he’s a bit skeptical and nervous. Lila is very happy that they are getting along.
I think it has originality as MC is not going to be love interest for the child she raise. I do not know why but in k-novels there is a strong tolerance towards female p*dophiles very similar to j-novels tolerance to male p*dos.
Not even close. It’s because she was also abused like him and felt bad for him, but later really loves him. But I do agree that some KR novels do make the MC have way too excessive love. But wouldn’t go as far to call them pxdos.

She was very beautiful and kind, but after the Viscount died, she became wicked and began to torment her stepson, who is a child. . In the present tense, the protagonist is reading the book sympathizing with Hir and her situation, but her oven explodes killing her and her father, who has come to torment her for money. And she wakes up as Lila. . As soon as she wakes up she goes to see Hir as he is very sick. There she sees that his room is very bad, he doesn't even have clean water to drink. To make matters worse, the soup she'd ordered from the maid wasn't even edible. . After taking care of him properly, she kicked out the self-serving maid who was abusing Hir. She ordered rumors about the maid and also gave the little one one of the best rooms. . She goes to Duke Lacia to make a proposal, she catches the traitor who is leaking information and recovers the diamond mine he lost for it. In exchange he would marry her. . The duke took an interest in her being smart and intelligent, so he wanted to keep her close and he was excited to get married. . There's a cute moment of her saying he looked like a cute dog, not the sly wolf she had when she first arrived in his room. . After checking on Hir, the late viscount's mother, Countess Fasha, arrives making a scene and Lila teases her. The countess tries to expel her but she says that the will proves that the house is hers, she just needs to get it from the Ahibalt bank. Filled with rage, the countess leaves. Lila and the Duke go to the casino to pick up the traitorous informant at their meeting place. Lacias told the casino manager to spread rumors that he was getting married and killed the spy. . After preparing the marriage contract documents, Lila goes to visit Lacias, there's a cute moment of him being jealous that she didn't make him cookies, she only made them for Hir. . "The contract was simple, Lila's only condition would be to offer Lacias to adopt Hir and consider him her own. While Lacias' conditions would be a contract marriage for a period of time and recovering her mines from Hiln. That's assuming all goes well. as planned. Lila has already seen some changes from the original novel and didn't know if anything else would change." . When Lila was going to sign the contract and the official marriage document, Lacias' mother, Duchess Camerline Wipere, arrived with everything. She took jewelry and dresses to Lila, she was very excited and despite Lila's misgivings, everything worked out and FL feels like she has a mother. . Lacias and Lila talk about a party they have to go to to advance the plan. . Lacias show Lila his magic weapon, a weapon that was very important to Hir in the original. . Cute moments of Hir and Lila and her learning more about her fears and trauma. . Lila and Lacias go to Hiln's party and there she meets Hiln senior. . There's a funny moment of Lacias being all affectionate towards Lila and the shocked guests at the man who was known to be cold. until now she hasn't realized that he's liking her. What happens after she ran away? I believe Spoiler Lila and Hizette were looking for a restaurant because she was feeling hungry. I really want to know because I love the interactions between Lila and Hir as well as Lasian and Lila ಥ‿ಥ Spoiler Though I do feel like Hizette is maybe the second ml based on their interactions, this is just my thekry though pls don't come at me (ᗒᗩᗕ) Can you possibly 2. There's a lot of sweet moments between Lila (FL) and Hir (OG ML, the child/son) but my particular favorite scenes are: Spoiler When Hir was practicing his swordsmanship and ability to summon and control rings (will edit this for the definition of rings, I forgot what it was about although it seems to play a significant part in the story TT), he immediately went to his mother, Lila's bedroom the next day after the duke and her married. He did his morning greetings to his mother and then lowkey boasted about his progress in swordsmanship and the rings. Spoiler: Hir and Lila moment Another one of the most lovely scenes in the novel based on the current updates from LL (mentioned by another user before my comments) that I really loved: Lila was really busy with paperworks before becoming the Duchess of Wipere. It increased a lot after becoming the duchess. Hir heard about it from his nanny who's name I believe was Sarah. She mentioned how the Madame was so busy working that sometimes her office lights are always on even in the middle of the night. Hir, being the sweet child that he is, acted all cute (not that he still needs to, really. Lila loves him so much although sometimes her decision p**ses me off) and asked her to lay with him at night just so she could avoid overworking as well as to let her sleep early. Now, here comes one of my favorite moment of the three of them. Spoiler: Lila, Lasian the Duke/ML, and Hir interaction This connects to theast spoiler about Hir and Lila. Hir sensed something strange near his mother's room while he was half-awake, i think, so she finished tucking him to bed and went back to her room - only to find Lasian standing outside her bedroom. They went back to Hir's room together, and much to Lila's surprise, Lasian went to bed with them despite Lila's comment about how the bed is small for them, to which he replied something along the lines of it being alright since they could hug each other better. Spoiler: Lila and Lasian interaction Lasian noticed how Lila was having trouble falling asleep so he embraced her and patted her hair every time he sees that she feels uncomfortable. Lila realized that it must've been the reason why she was able to fall asleep without much difficulty unlike the other nights, although she did wake up around midnight. (That's when they had that conversation about what the ml did while she was asleep) Side note: Lila was having a hard time to fall asleep because of the mountain load of paperworks on her desk. It must have been really a lot of work to do because even after their wedding, Lila was thinking about her paperworks that's so heavy the table could collapse from its weight. Ml replied that when that happens, they should replace the desk with another one made out of jewels since it is much more sturdy than wooden desks, according to him. Lasian commented that she should let another knight work on it but she refused because she knows how the other knights, mostly the captain/commander of the knights - Roxana, is busy.
