If vampires are weak to sunlight, then it stands to reason that they are also weak to nuclear explosions. This is different from how everyone else is weak to nuclear explosions. Vampires could probably regenerate if it were any other type of explosion, but not nuclear ones.

Way, you ask. Because sunlight is nuclear powered.

If it’s like this, wouldn’t they get burnt by moonlight too since it’s literally light from the sun reflecting off of the moon? : p

Moonlight is reflected light, so something might be lost in the act of reflecting??

What’s the reason why they burn? To me, I think that it’s heat, high energy light, or radicals (peroxides). So that’s why they won’t burn in the moon, it’s not strong enough light,

Ooh true, direct sunlight is often the key.

But sunlight is produced through nuclear fusion, while nukes produce energy via fission. So nuke glow wouldn’t work on vampires probably.

Would a vampire be vulnerable to UV lamp then? :hmm:

Probably, no need for an overkill nuke then. Regardless if it's fission ir fusion, both create UV rays.

The way I see it, vampires have an extreme version of xeroderma pigmentosum.

+ magical version? With that condition, they’d be really vulnerable to anything remotely radioactive. Buying some uranium glass to keep out the vampires ig

Does uranium glass emit uv rays?? That said, the radiation it emits is said to be weak, so burying it might negate the whole point of having it.

Actually, Incandescent Bulbs produce uv rays on their own. Just have a few in your house and as a porch light instead...

You guys might be approaching this too scientifically, symbolism can be pretty important in a lot of fantasy, maybe it has to be the sun for some metaphysical reason rather then uv rays or something.

Btw do you guys forget something.
Vampires can walk under UV lights.
They live in spaces where either candles and fluorescent lights are only available since they dont like the sun.

Btw there are vampires who can survive nukes depending on how strong the regeneration is. Not to mention the simple reason vampires are weak to sunlight is due to the curse of eternal darkness. Or simply cursed by god not to walk on daylight.

Yeah, vampires don't really have a solid mechanism. To begin with, even the idea that they burn in sunlight doesn't seem to apply to all vampires. How they work varies from story to story and folklore and popular culture don't exactly have a concrete definition.

    It's all just for fun~

I wonder... If you're a hermit, would the world be your house, therefore forcing all Vampires away from the Earth?

It might be limited to the hole you sleep in?? Or if you sleep under the trees and stars, maybe you would just be labeled homeless

But it depends on the type of hermit they are.

He's probably right. Vampires were demonic creatures in the original mythology and, more notable, in Dracula. The sun could be an allegory for God or something else divine.
