Weird Arguments You've Seen People Use

Basically what the title says, share some really weird arguments you've seen people using in discussions. It doesn't matter if you were involved in the discussion or not, I just wanna hear what nonsense people spouted.

The thing that triggered me to make this thread, was a thread on gamefaqs (currently ongoing) talking about Street Fighter V, where one of the users adamantly argues that Punk is a horrible player and that the only reason people think he is good, is because he is carried hard by how OP Karin is (Karin is the character that Punk plays with the most).

So... Why is this nonsense? Well... Lots of reasons actually,

• Punk has gotten fantastic tournament results multiple times. This by default means that he is a good player.
  
• Other players can also play with Karin, so Punk would need to beat them with skill on the mirror match.
  
• Some team tournaments allow the players of each team to ban some characters for a match... This means Punk can and has performed well on tournaments where Karin was banned.
• ... Punk actually plays with some 10 or so characters. Karin is just his best one.

So yeah. It was an absurd argument, and it just baffled me that the person kept on going with this argument when tons of people showed very valid counterpoints that made his whole argument invalid... But he just kept going anyways.

I don't even play Street Fighter, as I'm horrible at fighting games, but I know enough to know that this person seriously trying to downplay the skill of one of the best players of the game atm is just ridiculous... >.>

Once there was a guy that I got to debate with himself on here.

It was some shit about pedo shit. Mans came in saying some sussy shit and iirc I said something about pedophilia being bad or some shit.

Mf did a whole conversation/debate with himself whilst all I would keep doing was insult him. weird shit.

I think I remember back when Persona 5 just came out there were some threads in gamefaqs where any time a girl posted people were dog pilling and arguing that girls don’t play Persona 5. Or some such nonsense. There was really hurtful stuff directed at anyone who was a female player. Fortunately I don’t have an account, so I never got anything directed at me. (At least, I don’t think I have an account. Hmm… I don’t remember.)

I hope those people got mass reported and got at least temp banned... I think this kind of offense would sadly not be enough for a permaban though... orz

 

A Cantonese woman was losing heavily at a casino, so her husband tried to get her to cool it down & not go so often. She retorted that they needed to go back to win back their loses.

In general, many people are only persuaded through emotion (rhetoric) and cannot be convinced through fact based (dialectic) arguments. It also varies on the person's familiarity with the subject.

 

Ah, well, gambling is quite messy...

 

There are many people that enjoy/feel superior by undervaluing other people. They will pick the tiniest of flaw and nit pick it as hell. When if they was on the same position, they wouldn't be half as successful. But they need that to feel better about themself.

My most hated argument is: "if everyone is doing, you should do it as well/I'm allowed to do it as well." It's such sheep mentality which lead to a lot of bad habit and it push the responsability to everyone(aka you are acting irresponsable).

 

Oh yeah, it's better to think for yourself~

 

You need to watch more news about politicians. It won't help your sanity but you will hear really weird arguments.

I really don’t know why some people use that line when it doesn’t even fit what they are arguing about.
