Hello everyone,I am a Chinese writer! I'm a new member of this site~~~

Currently,I am struggling. I'm curious to know if anyone here can help me. I want to write gay fiction in Chinese and share it with my readers. However, due to various restrictions,it is of course impossible for me to publish on ...., the main Chinese reader platform.

Can anyone help me by telling me where I can safely publish my novels so that Chinese people can also read my gay novels? I don't want to get into trouble, but I'm a lesbian, haha.

I'm not interested in monetisation,I write to connect with readers and escape school life, hehehe. But I will serialise seriously and will publish a good story to keep readers entertained.

I used a translator, but I generalised it through multiple translators. So I hope it works!!!? Anyway, thanks for taking your precious time~~ ^^

Hi, nice to see another writer about!

I know Archive of Our Own (AO3) is blocked overseas, but you might be able to use a VPN to access and publish works there. A lot of Chinese fanfiction writers already keep their fanfics there, but it's an archive that also accepts original fiction. You can even write in Chinese (and use Chinese tags) if you want. There are small communities scattered here and thereā€”for example, readers from Chrysanthemum Garden's discord (a BL translation site) like to host writing events and publish on AO3. One example is December 2023's omegaverse event, where everyone submitted stories to an AO3 collection there. They are still brainstorming for the 2024 event.

Novelupdates also has its own sister site for fics called ScribbleHub, though it's a big mix of all sorts of stories. There's also a small but active BL (boys love) community there with its own discord called BL Palace that hosts small writing events for fun annually. If you are into GL (girls love), YuriGarden might fit better although they're currently inactive. You can also check out the ScribbleHub forums to see what is available for writers, as many original fic writers hang out there.

You can also consider the freedom of having your own blog such as Wordpress.com or Tumblr. Tumblr does have a small writing community and it offers the flexibility of reblogging your posts and others for more viewership, although it's less formal. They recently added a Communities option where you can find like-minded people to post together, although I haven't tried it myself. Tumblr is where you'll most likely find people participating in freeform events like A.I.-less Whumptober, where people just write stories and add a tag to be included in the collection.

More chaotic are options like Wattpad, which caters to all levels of writing and needs an account to read works, but can be popular depending on what type of story you write. Tapas is another popular site as well, but most readers there focus on webtoons so it may be hard to find an audience for written works. (However, they sometimes hold contests for stories that can gain you more readership if you submit your story in the contest tag.)

Last but not least there is also RoyalRoad, which has the distinction of letting readers write reviews that grade you on style, story, grammar, character, and overall categories. However, most writers here seem to favor LitRPG-type stories so your readership levels might vary.

I hope these help and have fun writing! Honestly, for me the best thing is to join a discord and have fun writing with a group of small friends. I'm active in BL Palace discord for that reason. :)
