    They've brought up the destruction of the place so many times that I'm starting to wonder if it won't actually happen. Though, if it does, it feels like it'll be an accident or something that the enemy does. I could also see the dragon doing it, just for the shock/comedic value (from a meta standpoint).

    I'm really not seeing why they couldn't just challenge cor leadership of the alliance based on their status as the dragon's representative. Or are they worried that they couldn't beat the other tribe's leader?

    That aside, they should practice a bit to make it look like Red Wind is ordering them around in battle. Its the only way I can think of that it might recognize her as its master and not one of them.
